The title of Best Tourist Village for Tra Que Vegetable Village and UNESCO Global Creative City has brought opportunities and leverage to promote Hoi An tourism.
These are considered two important milestones, marking the success and effectiveness in the work of preserving cultural values, landscapes, and craft villages of Hoi An. This mark also opens up opportunities for satellite villages, especially neighboring rural areas.
“Hoi An currently has 430 hectares of agricultural land, this area is always controlled and preserved. This is also the basis and condition for Hoi An to develop agricultural and rural tourism as well as develop and improve the quality of OCOP products and rural industrial products serving tourism” – Mr. Nguyen Van Son - Chairman of Hoi An City People's Committee shared.
Suburban areas such as Cam Kim, Cam Thanh, Cam An and neighboring localities such as Dien Ban, Duy Xuyen, Thang Binh... are starting to follow the pace of rural tourism development.
“Currently, Kim Bong carpentry village and Cam Kim agricultural village (Cam Kim commune) are planned in the direction of rural villages and ecological craft villages. After the general planning of Hoi An is approved, the city will urgently complete the planning of Cam Kim zoning, including specific projects such as Happy Village, agricultural tourism area as well as many other projects to build Cam Kim tourist village in a sustainable direction, preserving rural production industries alongside fishing, creating a basis for strong development in the future” – Mr. Son added.
Identify the advantages
Rural tourism is identified by Quang Nam as a pillar in the strategy for developing the tourism and service industry. To promote rural tourism in Quang Nam, especially in the villages in the West and Southwest of the province, in addition to the budget, there needs to be specific support policies and mechanisms. The requirement is to mobilize people to participate in sharing costs to enhance their role and responsibility in the operation process.
At the first international conference on rural tourism that just took place, two limitations in the development of agricultural and rural tourism listed by experts are transport infrastructure and financial resources.
Compared to Quang Nam, although some rural roads and infrastructure have been basically invested, they still seem to be incomplete and do not meet requirements, especially the traffic connection network, parking lots, etc.
In addition to investment resources and regulations on resource and land management, the conversion of agricultural land use to commercial and service land is always a difficult problem due to legal regulations.
Mr. Nguyen Trung Khanh - Director of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism acknowledged that in recent years, Quang Nam province has had many programs and resolutions to support tourism development as well as invest in building infrastructure worthy of...
However, to promote the strong development of rural tourism, finding sustainable financial and investment solutions, combining agriculture and tourism space, enhancing benefit sharing... are major strategic issues.
In addition, creating connections between stakeholders such as state management agencies, local communities, organizations, businesses and financial partners is essential to create a foundation for long-term cooperation, ensuring rural tourism develops from the foundation of indigenous resources.
