Accordingly, in Ca Mau province, the purchasing department of GO! and Tops Market supermarkets under Central Retail Vietnam had the opportunity to survey seafood processing factories, OCOP product manufacturing facilities, and directly connect with businesses and cooperatives in Ca Mau province through the Ca Mau Agricultural and Aquatic Products Trade Promotion Connection Conference (an event organized by the Ca Mau Provincial Investment Promotion and Enterprise Support Center under the direction of the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Ca Mau Provincial People's Committee).
Through the connection session, Central Retail's purchasing department worked with 27 potential suppliers, specializing in providing frozen foods, processed shrimp products, agricultural products, and regional specialties of Ca Mau; thereby, will sign a commercial contract with 01 supplier as soon as possible, and continue to work with other potential suppliers, to open up more opportunities to bring OCOP goods and specialties of Ca Mau province into business at the GO! The event attracted the participation of more than 30 booths displaying more than 50 local specialty products. The diverse booths included fresh vegetables and fruits, processed foods, tea, wine and handicrafts. Most of the products were provided by cooperatives and Muong ethnic communities.
During the event, Central Retail’s Fresh Food team connected with about 20 suppliers and identified 5 potential partners for the Community Livelihood Project – which has been implemented by Central Retail in recent years.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Bich Van - Communications Director of Central Retail Vietnam Group - said that currently, Central Retail Vietnam is stepping up the search for suppliers of regional specialties from localities to prepare for the program "Vietnamese Specialties for Vietnamese Tet", which will be implemented by Central Retail in the near future.
The program promises to bring consumers the opportunity to discover traditional dishes of the three regions, from Tet candies and jams to specialty dried foods such as dried chicken, dried beef, dried buffalo jerky, sticky rice, dried bamboo shoots, and specialty rice, creating a traditional, full, and sacred atmosphere of Tet.
“With the goal of connecting the community and preserving traditional values, the program is not only an opportunity to enjoy specialties but also an opportunity for everyone to share, pass on old Tet memories and connect cultural values through each dish and specialty of Vietnam,” Ms. Nguyen Thi Bich Van emphasized.
