On December 19, at a trial in Delphi City (Indiana, USA), Judge Frances Gull sentenced defendant Richard Allen (52 years old) to the maximum sentence of 130 years in prison for the murder of female student Abigail 'Abby' Williams (13 years old) and her close friend Liberty 'Libby' German (14 years old) nearly 8 years ago.
The two victims went missing on February 13, 2017 while walking along a bridge in Delphi, about 70 miles north of Indianapolis. Their bodies were found a day later, less than a mile from the bridge.
The case attracted national media attention in the United States because the victim, German, managed to film a man with his phone. However, it took Indianapolis police more than five years to successfully find evidence to arrest the suspect.

The killer, who also lived in the same city as the two victims, was not a suspect until September 2022. When he was arrested a month later, he was a pharmacy employee.
