JICA supports Binh Duong through sports activities

Within the framework of the pilot cooperation project between JICA and Kawasaki Frontale Football Club (Japan) in Binh Duong province, Becamex Tokyu Company Limited organized a sports festival on June 17.

As part of a series of activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Japan (1973-2023), the Sports Festival attracted 120 participants, and included many activities such as soccer classes, walking with sticks, gymnastics, athletics classes, cheerleading classes, math classes combined with physical activities for children. The event also received support from participants of many ages.

Becamex Tokyu, a joint venture between Japan's Tokyu Group and Vietnam's Becamex IDC Group, has partnered with Kawasaki Frontale Football Club of the Japan Professional Football League - J.League to establish Kawasaki Frontale Football School in Binh Duong province.

The event demonstrates the pioneering role and steady development of Kawasaki Frontale Football School, the first football training school established by a Japanese professional football club in Vietnam with activities that actively contribute to the community and society.

Recently, JICA has coordinated with J-League to conduct a feasibility study on expanding activities implemented in Japan to football training schools abroad as well as operating football training schools under J.League clubs, aiming to solve social issues and implement the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Binh Duong Province is the locality where JICA has cooperated with Kawasaki Frontale Club to implement the first project within the framework of the above survey activities. The project implements social contribution activities through Kawasaki Frontale Football School from September 2022 to March 2024. This cooperation will help Kawasaki Frontale Club continue to implement social contribution activities independently after the project ends.

The support under this survey is based on the urban development model of Japanese private enterprises, through sports activities to solve social problems, forming an urban development model in the form of public-private partnership in Vietnam.
