Tan Son District has implemented Project 8 in 17/17 communes (83/95 extremely disadvantaged areas). Recently, the Steering Committee of Project 8 in Tan Son District held a conference to review and evaluate the implementation results of Project 8 "Implementing gender equality and solving urgent issues for women and children" in the period of 2021-2025.
Representatives of the Steering Committee of Project 8 of Tan Son district awarded certificates of merit to 6 groups with outstanding achievements in implementing the Project.
Project 8 "Implementing gender equality and solving urgent issues for women and children" (under the National Target Program on socio-economic development of ethnic minority and mountainous areas for the period 2021-2030) is implemented with 4 contents with 16 specific groups of activities and many activities focusing on propaganda and mobilization to change "thinking and ways of doing" contributing to eliminating gender prejudices and stereotypes in families and communities. According to the report of the District Project Steering Committee, from the beginning of the period up to now, the whole district has maintained the activities of 68 community communication groups; supported the establishment of 3 new livelihood groups with women as owners or co-owners applying science and technology; consolidated and improved the quality of 5/5 community trusted addresses; newly established, improved capacity and supported the organization of activities of 18 Leaders of Change Clubs; Organized 24 policy dialogues at commune and village level; organized 10 gender mainstreaming training sessions for village officials...
In addition, the contents of Project 8 are widely communicated on media and social networks, thereby contributing to changing people's awareness and thinking in eliminating barriers and gender stereotypes, effectively implementing gender equality goals and improving the material and spiritual life of women and children in ethnic minority areas in the district.
Continuing to implement Project 8 in the coming time, the District Women's Union actively innovates and improves operational efficiency; strengthens coordination with departments, branches and local authorities to promote solutions to remove existing difficulties and obstacles in implementing the Project at the grassroots level; promotes information and propaganda work to create strong changes in the awareness of ethnic minorities, contributing to promoting gender equality, ensuring the voice and substantive participation of women and children in socio-economic development activities in the locality...
