What is the virtual "Home" button on iPhone?

The virtual "Home" button, also known as "Assistive Touch", is a translucent circular icon that can appear on the iPhone or iPad screen, used as a replacement for the physical "Home" button that was present on older versions of Apple phones.

With this virtual "Home" button, you can quickly access features on your iPhone easily without having to go into each application or use hard physical keys, and easily return to the home screen when needed.

How to change the image, add gestures to the virtual "Home" button

- Add more gestures for virtual Home button on iPhone

In iPhone, in the Custom Gestures section, it will help iPhone users add new gesture features such as swiping and touching in your own way. You can do these changes as follows:

Step 1: Click Create New Gesture.

Step 2: Swipe and touch the screen to create new gestures. When users swipe or touch the screen multiple times, a variety of gestures will be created. To complete the gesture settings, select Stop, then press Save and name the appropriate gesture.

The new gesture will then be added to the Customize section at the top menu of Assistive Touch. The newly created gestures can be assigned to any item on the Assistive Touch menu bar, helping users personalize their device.

- Change Home button image

Although it brings many practical benefits, the virtual Home button always appearing on the iPhone screen also makes many people feel annoyed, especially when playing games or watching movies. Understanding this limitation, Apple has added a feature that allows users to customize the virtual Home button image for iPhone to be blurred or transparent so as not to obstruct the view.

To change the virtual Home button image on iPhone/iPad, the device must be running on iOS 11.0 or higher and only applies to iPhone 5 or higher.

To adjust the virtual Home button shape, in the Assistive Touch settings of the device, users apply the Idle Opacity option and then adjust the corresponding darkness for the transparent virtual Home button on the iPhone or iPad device by dragging the horizontal bar displayed below. By adjusting the shape of the virtual Home button, users do not need to turn off the Home button as before, the Home button will only return to a transparent state when not in use.
