Hue: Opening of National Tourism Year 2025

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the Hue National Tourism Year - 2025, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung said that in the process of building and developing the country, Hue City has always held an important role and position; in which, with its location in the middle of the country, Hue plays a role in connecting the three regions of the North - Central - South, and is a land of talented people.

Hue City has a rich history and culture, formed and developed through the flow of nearly 720 years of the land of Thuan Hoa - Phu Xuan - Hue; containing the quintessence, symbolic value of the intelligence and civilization of the Vietnamese people with 8 heritages recognized by UNESCO; including "Hue Royal Court Music", which has resounded on the world cultural map, contributing to affirming the eternal value of traditional Vietnamese art.

Minister Nguyen Van Hung said that the Hue National Tourism Year - 2025, taking place with many activities in Hue City and many provinces/cities across the country, will be in the direction of "combining strength, multiplying advantages, and unleashing success" with a new spirit, new enthusiasm, deeply echoing the cultural traditions and thousands of years of civilization of the nation, deeply expressing the will and aspiration for strong and prosperous development of the nation.

In his speech, Deputy Prime Minister Mai Van Chinh said that 2025 is expected to be a milestone marking the strong return of Vietnamese tourism, with hopeful goals of welcoming 22-23 million international visitors and 120-130 million domestic visitors.

Through 22 editions, Hue has been honored to be chosen twice to host the National Tourism Year (2012 and 2025). This is not only a recognition of the position of this land on the tourism map of Vietnam and the world, but also demonstrates the attention and responsibility of the Party, State and Central agencies towards Hue City in socio-economic development in general and tourism development in particular.

In order for tourism to make a breakthrough, Deputy Prime Minister Mai Van Chinh requested the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, ministries, sectors, Hue City and localities across the country to continue promoting achievements, strive to overcome difficulties and challenges, and proactively continue to coordinate to effectively implement a number of key tasks.

Implement comprehensive and synchronous solutions on planning and investment attraction to create unique and classy tourism products, linked with unique cultural heritage values.

Promote digital transformation, apply technology to effectively communicate and promote tourism in Hue in particular and the Central Coast region in general, as well as the whole country; create new space for tourism development, minimize impacts on the environment, natural resources, landscapes and heritage.

Focus on building a civilized, friendly and sustainable tourism environment; promote green transformation; strongly promote cultural heritage values ​​to boost tourism, taking tourism as the foundation to preserve, embellish and promote local heritage values.

Training and developing tourism human resources, especially equipping vocational skills, forming a professional tourism mindset. Strengthening links and cooperation between localities, creating a series of destinations "Ancient Capital Journey", in which Hue must be the driving force, the highlight to attract tourists.

Focus on developing tourism infrastructure, improving services, ensuring a safe tourism environment; at the same time, continue to promote the preservation and promotion of heritage values ​​so that Hue city is always an attractive destination on the international tourism map.

Pay attention to building a cultural lifestyle, civilized and friendly behavior so that "Every Hue citizen is truly a cultural and tourism ambassador"; have the responsibility to preserve and protect the environment and landscape because that is the source of life for today and tomorrow.

The Deputy Prime Minister believes that Hue tourism will become a "leading cultural heritage destination in Vietnam and the region", making an increasingly important contribution to the country's development, bringing happiness to the people, contributing to the development of Vietnamese culture and Vietnamese civilization to last forever, shining in the flow of human civilization.

Immediately after the opening ceremony, an art program with the message "Confession of the River" took place, expressing the tangible and intangible cultural values, resources and unique tourism products of Vietnam; at the same time, demonstrating the spirit of promoting Hue Festival 2025, the spirit of celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of Thua Thien Hue (1975-2025) and the rise of Hue City under the Central Government.

The program features performances by more than 800 famous actors, singers, artists and the public, along with international art troupes from China, Korea, Uzbekistan and Japan.

The opening night also featured many unique and novel activities such as light shows using drone light, electronic water drums, panorama water music, flying dragons, and flying parachutes.

The National Tourism Year is held annually in rotation among provinces and cities across the country. Up to now, after 20 successful events, it has contributed significantly to promoting domestic tourism development, attracting a large number of international tourists, and promoting the image of Vietnam as a "safe, friendly, peaceful, hospitable, integrated and developed" country to the world.

In 2025, the National Tourism Year returns to Hue for the second time, at a time when the Party Committee, government and people of all ethnic groups here are honored and proud when Thua Thien Hue province officially becomes a city directly under the Central Government from January 1, 2025.
