DNVN - Huawei announced its 5.5G development orientation with two strategies "Network for AI" and "AI for Network" to explore new business values.

At the 5.5G Industry Summit hosted by GSMA, as part of Mobile World Congress Shanghai 2024 – MWC Shanghai 2024, Huawei participated in discussions with many operators, equipment vendors, research institutes and industry leaders to share the successes in network construction and application in the process of evolving from 5G to 5.5G. In addition, the parties also discussed development strategies, as well as how to effectively deploy business from 5.5G.

At MWC Shanghai 2024, David Wang, Executive Director and Chairman of Huawei ICT Infrastructure Executive Board, delivered a speech on the topic of "Accelerating 5.5G and Shaping the Mobile AI Era".

He clarified the development direction of 5.5G with two strategies of "Network for AI" and "AI for Network" to explore new business values. The "Network for AI" strategy uses the network to promote the development of AI, laying a solid foundation for the era of mobile AI. The "AI for Network" strategy uses AI to empower, strongly promote the development of the network, and increase network productivity in all aspects.

“5.5G is the mainstay of the mobile AI era. Therefore, we hope to continue to work with industry partners to seize the huge opportunities from the mobile AI era and shape an intelligent world,” David Wang emphasized.

At the conference, Mr. David Li - President of 5G Business

The world's leading operators such as China Unicom Beijing, China Mobile Yunnan and du UAE have also shared their experiences in developing and operating 5G and 5.5G networks. Specifically, 5.5G provides the key to unlocking business opportunities from mobile applications that require higher network requirements and provide more differentiated user experiences.

High-quality 5G networks are the foundation for 5.5G network deployment, so enhancing 5G networks in residential areas, high-speed railways, urban and rural areas can support multi-function setups for 5.5G networks. In addition, end-to-end intelligent operation processes enable operators to gain comprehensive and in-depth information about network failures, self-heal faults, maximize network efficiency, and improve user experience.

At the conference, Huawei officially announced its vision for developing industry technologies from 5G to 5.5G - aiming for greener, more connected, and more experienced mobile networks through long-term innovation of Extremely Large Antenna Array (ELAA) technology, mobile services that deliver differentiated experiences, green solutions for all time scenarios, and AI-empowered networks.

AI is rapidly being applied to computers, mobile phones, wearable devices, and vehicle-mounted computing systems, creating a massive connected ecosystem with rich content and diverse user traffic patterns. These applications have placed higher demands on network capabilities, while creating opportunities for new services, superior network quality, and enhanced O&M capabilities. To seize every new opportunity, Huawei calls on the entire industry to collaborate and exchange, to promote common prosperity, and develop 5.5G networks.
