“AI cannot develop without semiconductors, and vice versa, the semiconductor industry is changing rapidly thanks to advances in AI. It is a symbiotic relationship where both push each other forward.”
Mr. Christopher Nguyen, General Director of Aitomatic Company, shared his inspirations about "AI Revolution in Silicon Valley - Exploring the future of intelligence," at the International Conference on Artificial Intelligence and Semiconductors (AISC 2025).
AI and Semiconductors are a Symbiotic Relationship
Mr. Christopher Nguyen emphasized that AI and semiconductors are not just two separate fields but two indispensable pillars of the future digital economy. Specifically, AI can automate the semiconductor manufacturing process, predict and detect product defects, thereby improving production quality and efficiency.
Mr. Christopher predicts that by 2030, manufacturing plants, especially advanced manufacturing facilities, will require more stringent standards than ever before. In complex processes (such as plasma processing), AI will play a key role in ensuring near-absolute accuracy.
On that basis, Mr. Christopher mentioned Moore's Law and affirmed that the development speed of AI and semiconductors is taking place at a dizzying speed.
“Every 18 months, there are significant improvements in microprocessor technology, opening up new possibilities for AI and semiconductor applications,” said Christopher.
Internationally, the AI chip market is also witnessing tremendous growth and experts expect it to continue to boom in the coming years. Accordingly, technology powerhouses such as the US, China, Japan and South Korea are investing heavily in this field, creating a fierce race globally.
Link in the supply chain
According to technology experts, Vietnam has enough advantages to attract investment and become a new technology center.
Specifically, Mr. Christopher Nguyen emphasized that in the context of fierce competition, Vietnam has a great opportunity to become an important link in the global supply chain. With its strategic geographical location, abundant young human resources and attractive investment incentive policies, Vietnam has the potential to attract the world's leading technology corporations to set up factories and research centers.
“Japan wants to invest in Vietnam. South Korea wants to invest in Vietnam and Taiwan also wants to invest in Vietnam. Geopolitically, this is an advantage for Vietnam," Mr. Christopher Nguyen emphasized.
However, Mr. Christopher also pointed out the challenges that Vietnam needs to overcome to truly "rise" in these areas. That is to solve the problem of high-quality human resources, upgrade technological infrastructure and perfect the legal framework. Specifically, Vietnam needs to prioritize specialized training programs, not only at the university level but also through close cooperation between businesses and universities to create conditions for students to practice and access new technologies.
Regarding infrastructure, according to Mr. Christopher, Vietnam needs to continue investing in large data centers, high-tech parks and advanced computing network systems. A complete technology ecosystem will help businesses easily deploy AI applications and promote innovation in the semiconductor industry. To do this, Vietnam needs to build a clear and flexible legal framework to support the development of AI and semiconductors while creating a transparent playing field to attract foreign businesses. Completing data protection policies, intellectual property and related regulations will help the AI and semiconductor industries develop more sustainably.
Agreeing with the above comments, Director of the National Innovation Center - Ministry of Finance, Mr. Vu Quoc Huy affirmed the Government's commitment to creating favorable conditions for technology enterprises. He emphasized that Vietnam is actively embracing the Fourth Industrial Revolution and considers AI and semiconductors as strategic pillars for development.
"AISC 2025 facilitates collaboration and groundbreaking discussions to shape the future of artificial intelligence (AI) and the semiconductor industry. I urge all investors to take advantage of this opportunity to build strong partnerships and promote technological advancement," said Mr. Huy./.
