With its pristine, beautiful natural scenery and unique culture and cuisine, this season, visitors to Kon Plong can also admire the attractive beauty of the terraced fields showing off their brilliant yellow color amidst the deep green forest.
Since ancient times, ethnic minorities in many localities in Kon Plong district have reclaimed mountainsides and hillsides for production, forming terraced fields arranged in layers according to the terrain, creating a very unique and distinctive beauty.
To explore the golden season on the terraced fields, following the introduction of a friend, we went to Mang Den town, Kon Plong district from early morning. From the center of Mang Den town, follow National Highway 24 towards Quang Ngai about 2km, turn left onto the inter-village concrete road about 3km to reach Kon Vong Kia village. This season, the scenery around the village is the most beautiful time of the year thanks to the shimmering yellow color of the fields in the ripening rice season.

Passing through the green pine forests, you will reach the village in the middle of the valley, surrounded by majestic, undulating hills and terraced fields wearing a beautiful yellow coat. The soft white clouds still linger on the high mountain slopes, making the scene more magical and lively. In this land, villages are often scattered at the foot of the hills or interspersed among the fields. The colorful corrugated iron roof houses appear and disappear, the small winding roads make the space here charming, attracting visitors.
Kon Vong Kia village currently has 148 households with 447 people, mainly Xo Dang people - Mo Nam branch living by farming. People in Kon Vong Kia only grow one rice crop a year. In the harvest season, when dawn comes, the summer sun shines, the whole village fields light up with a dreamy look, farmers are busy harvesting rice amidst laughter and chatter.
The highlight of the village is the Nuoc Long stream, which meanders softly through the fields, providing alluvium and irrigation water to help the rice fields flourish and produce bountiful harvests. There are lovely suspension bridges connecting the hamlets and rice fields, adding to the charm and softness of the village, inspiring romantic souls who love to explore.

Coming to another beautiful terraced field in the district, that is the rice field of Kon Tu Rang village, Mang Canh commune. The village is located near the "37 households" area of Mang Den town, where there are many agricultural projects and many famous tourist attractions. The field can be seen from the hill right behind the village, a peaceful, poetic scene of golden terraced fields, winding in the mild weather, the yellow sunlight is slanting.
Unlike many other fields, the terraced fields in Kon Tu Rang do not have villages on them but are located separately in a valley right at the foot of the wild, deep green Ngoc Le mountain. One side of the field is surrounded by the Dak S'nghe river flowing through, right on the left bank of the river is the hill where the residents of Kon Tu Rang village have lived for generations.
Kon Tu Rang terraced fields stretch out, immense, layer upon layer like endless, golden waves, spreading their colors and fragrance from the sacred Ngoc Le mountain to the river. Standing high above and looking down, the entire field is a soft, seductive carpet of green rice mixed with ripe yellow rice. Some fields are being harvested, some are waiting to be harvested, creating beautiful natural color patches. Although the fields are far from the village and there are no houses, the Mo Mam people here often build huts and granaries right on the fields to rest while farming and store food, creating a close, peaceful scene.
To get to the fields, locals and tourists have to cross a lovely suspension bridge. A complex of granaries was built right on the empty land at the end of the suspension bridge, this is where rice is stored for people to eat gradually and for seeds for the next season. The strange thing is that all the granaries of the Mo Nam people are built far from the village, made from simple materials, without guards, without protection, but there has never been any theft. Each household uses its own granary, absolutely not encroaching on other people's rice. The granary has become a symbol of prosperity and solidarity of the whole village.
“Since ancient times, villagers have loved and respected each other, so there has never been a case of villagers stealing rice from the warehouse. However, if anyone steals property, depending on the amount stolen, the village elder may fine them chickens, pigs, buffaloes, cows, or worse, expel them from the village,” said Mr. A Dieu, the village party cell secretary and a prestigious person in Kon Tu Rang.

You can leisurely stroll through the fields to admire the golden rice, feel the scent of the harvest stubble or sit and rest next to the hut to listen to the clear sounds of all things or listen to the locals tell stories about the streams, hills, and terraced fields here.
Mr. A Hoan - Secretary of the Mang Canh Commune Party Committee excitedly shared: In recent years, when the rice in Kon Tu Rang is ripe, many tourists know about it and come in large numbers to visit and take souvenir photos. Thanks to that, the homestays and tourist attractions around the village are also more crowded.
In addition to the above terraced fields, Kon Plong district has many other terraced fields distributed in most communes. Each place has its own beauty, but in general, when the rice season comes, it is a combination of colors: the bright yellow of rice, the dark green of mountains, the blue of the sky combined with the harvest activities, the sweat, the smiles, the radiant faces of the people create beautiful frames that cannot be taken away from the eyes.
With a fresh climate and majestic mountain scenery, each season in Kon Plong district has its own beauty, full of mystery and charm. And for those who love the beauty of the mountains and forests, love taking pictures and exploring, they cannot miss the golden season here. The best time to come here to explore and admire the golden color and aroma of ripe rice is from the beginning of June to the end of July - also known as the harvest season.
