On the afternoon of August 23, the Department of Science and Technology of Ho Chi Minh City and the Department of Culture and Sports of Ho Chi Minh City held a signing ceremony of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to promote innovation and digital transformation at the Department of Culture and Sports of Ho Chi Minh City. The key task is to seek applications and projects with the goal of developing the cultural industry in Ho Chi Minh City by 2030.
According to the representative of the Department of Science and Technology of Ho Chi Minh City, this cooperation will contribute to enhancing the role of science and technology in the process of cultural and social development, connecting management agencies and the startup community, creating momentum to promote scientific research, technology development and innovation in the public sector in general and for the cultural sector in Ho Chi Minh City in particular.
At the event, the Department of Science and Technology of Ho Chi Minh City launched the contest "Searching for innovative projects in the fields of AI, sustainable development and cultural industry" with the aim of selecting innovative projects and creative startups to serve the cultural sector and the cause of socio-economic development of Ho Chi Minh City in the new period.
Director of the Department of Science and Technology of Ho Chi Minh City Nguyen Viet Dung said that the cultural industry is an industry that contributes greatly to the socio-economic development, this is also an industry with potential and advantages, especially in a big city like Ho Chi Minh City. In addition, through this cooperation, the department will also seek more projects applying artificial intelligence (AI), production models associated with environmental protection, sustainable development or projects oriented towards the community... with the goal of promoting the development of the innovation ecosystem of Ho Chi Minh City.
Currently, the innovation ecosystem of Ho Chi Minh City is ranked 111/1,000 cities worldwide, leading the country. Ho Chi Minh City strives to be in the top 100 in the global innovation index by 2030. The Department of Science and Technology of Ho Chi Minh City wishes to coordinate and cooperate with the community and units to develop support programs and incubate projects in the list of 9 priority areas of Ho Chi Minh City set out in Resolution 98.
