Hong Kong (China) won ABU Robocon 2024

(NLDO) - On the afternoon of August 25, at the Quang Ninh Sports Complex, Vietnam Television and the People's Committee of Quang Ninh province jointly organized the Asia-Pacific Robot Contest (ABU Robocon) 2024.

ABU Robocon 2024 has the theme "Harvest Day", aiming to honor the value of agriculture, especially rice cultivation on terraced fields - a characteristic of Vietnamese culture.

Team Vietnam 1 and Vietnam 2 compete in the semi-finals

Participating robots must perform tasks simulating the rice growing process, from sowing to harvesting, transporting rice to the warehouse with the message of effective farming, bringing a prosperous life to everyone.

Participating in this competition are 13 teams from 12 countries and territories including: Vietnam (2 teams), Cambodia, China, Egypt, Hong Kong (China), India, Indonesia, Mongolia, Malaysia, Japan, Thailand, Nepal

In the preliminary round, the teams were divided into 4 groups A, B, C, D. At the end of the qualifying round, the 8 best teams including: Japan, Vietnam 1, Vietnam 2, Cambodia, Hong Kong (China), Thailand, China, Malaysia continued to compete in the quarter-finals, semi-finals, and finals.

Surpassing teams from 12 countries and territories, with convincing performances, clever tactics and solid competitive spirit, the Hong Kong (China) team won the ABU Robocon 2024 championship.

Since 2002, this is the third time that the Hong Kong (China) team has won the ABU Robocon championship.

The Organizing Committee awarded first prize to the Hong Kong (China) team, second prize to the Vietnam 1 team and two third prizes to the Vietnam 2 and Japan teams.

At the competition, the ABU Robocon 2024 Organizing Committee handed over the ABU Robocon 2025 flag to Mongolian Broadcasting and Television (MNB).

Speaking at the competition, Mr. Cao Tuong Huy, Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Ninh province, emphasized that following the success of many national and international cultural and sports events, Quang Ninh province is honored to be the venue for ABU Robocon 2024. Quang Ninh province has directed departments, branches, localities... to prepare the best for the ABU Robocon 2024 Competition to take place successfully.

ABU Robocon 2024 is not only a playground for robot enthusiasts from countries and territories in the Asia-Pacific region, but also a technology competition event, demonstrating the development of science and technology and the creativity of the young generation, of technology-loving students in the Asia-Pacific region.
