"Green tourism journey" is the latest joint promotional strategy to attract tourists of the three provinces of Ninh Binh, Nghe An, Thanh Hoa, announced within the framework of the VITM 2025 event taking place from April 10 to 13 in Hanoi.
Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Thanh Hoa province, Ms. Vuong Thi Hai Yen, stated that green tourism and sustainable tourism are inevitable global trends. Developing tourism products associated with nature conservation and cultural values not only contributes to environmental protection but also brings long-term socio -economic benefits.
Nghe An , Thanh Hoa, and Ninh Binh have many similarities such as large land areas, rich and diverse tourism resources, natural ecosystems, and long-standing cultural and historical heritages.
The destinations all have prominent landmarks that attract tourists such as Cuc Phuong National Park (Ninh Binh), Ben En National Park (Thanh Hoa), Pu Mat National Park (Nghe An). The 3 destinations also have special national relics such as Kim Lien and Truong Bon relic sites (Nghe An), Hoa Lu ancient capital (Ninh Binh), Lam Kinh (Thanh Hoa).
The unique common point of the 3 provinces that not every place has is that they all possess heritages recognized by UNESCO. Of which, Ninh Binh has the World Cultural and Natural Heritage Trang An, Thanh Hoa has the World Cultural Heritage Citadel of the Ho Dynasty and Nghe An has the World Intangible Heritage of Vi, Giam Nghe Tinh folk songs. The 3 localities are also the cradle of many unique folk art forms such as Song Ma folk songs, Dong Anh folk songs (Thanh Hoa), Ninh Binh cheo and xam singing.
With the above abundant resources, the three provinces are combining to create products such as Journey through the ancient capitals of Vietnam (Hoa Lu Ancient Capital, Ho Dynasty Citadel and Quang Trung King Temple), Discovering Pu Mat National Park Nghe An - Ben En Thanh Hoa - Ninh Binh.
Experts say that combining 3 destinations to make green tours will create consecutive products all year round to attract tourists, which is expected to avoid seasonality in tourism. Many tourism programs in localities are currently seasonal, causing instability in product development.
However, this combination also faces many difficulties because the tourist destinations of the three provinces have not yet developed synchronously. Some places still lack high-class accommodation facilities, and the experiential activities are not professional or diverse. In addition, management agencies do not have specific policies to measure what a standard green tour is.
It is expected that this year, the three provinces will continue to organize joint promotion conferences to promote joint tourism products, while positioning the regional tourism brand on the Vietnamese and international tourism map. Ms. Yen hopes that the combination of the three heritage regions will create new opportunities, contributing to bringing regional tourism to "a new level".
Deputy Director of the National Tourism Administration Ha Van Sieu said that the three localities are aiming for green tourism products, enhancing the experience for tourists, which is "very suitable" with the current global trend. This also shows the efforts of the provinces in creating new products to attract tourists. However, for the inter-route tourism journey to be effective, the provinces need to strengthen the connection of routes as well as the experience for tourists, attracting these long-stay guests.
"To do so, provinces need to clearly promote their own outstanding cultural values and ecosystems," said Mr. Sieu.
