Over 4,742 billion VND to take care of Tet for the poor

On the occasion of the Lunar New Year 2025, the Vietnam Fatherland Front from the central to local levels mobilized and supported the State budget to give poor households, near-poor households, and people in especially difficult circumstances 7,894,249 gifts, worth over 4,742 billion VND.


With the spirit of "For the poor - leaving no one behind", the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committees at all levels and member organizations have synchronously deployed activities to support poor households, meritorious families, social protection beneficiaries, workers and laborers in difficult circumstances.

Mr. Cao Xuan Thao, Head of the Social Mobilization Committee (Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front) said that the Standing Committee of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and the Central "For the Poor" Fund Mobilization Committee have allocated 17.42 billion VND from the Central "For the Poor" Fund to give 13,400 Tet gifts to poor households and cancer patients in especially difficult circumstances.

Specifically, the Central "For the Poor" Fund Mobilization Committee supported 16.38 billion VND to transfer to 63 provinces and cities to give 12,600 gifts at 1.3 million VND/gift for leaders of the Party, State, and Vietnam Fatherland Front to give to people in difficult circumstances in the localities.

Leaders of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee visited and presented 800 gifts, each worth 1.3 million VND, with a total value of 1.04 billion VND, to cancer patients in especially difficult circumstances at hospitals in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Can Tho and Nghe An.

Accompanying the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, Vietnam has 2 units directly supporting localities with Tet gifts with a total value of 34.95 billion VND: Mobile World Joint Stock Company supports 2,035 tons of rice, worth 33 billion VND to 54 provinces and cities; Giao Hang Tiet Kiem Joint Stock Company donates 1,500 gifts, worth 1.3 million VND/gift, with a total amount of 1.95 billion VND to 10 provinces and cities.

According to a quick report from 63 provinces and cities, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committees of localities have drawn from the 3-level "For the Poor" Fund, mobilized units, businesses, organizations, philanthropists and member organizations of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, and the State and local budgets for 7,880,849 gifts, worth over 4,742 billion VND.

Member organizations of the Vietnam Fatherland Front also have activities to care for union members and workers during Tet. During Tet, 28,305 union members and workers received gifts with a budget of over 37.1 billion VND.

The Vietnam Red Cross Society has organized the "Humanitarian Tet" Movement in 2025. According to a quick report from 54 provinces and cities, up to now, it has mobilized support for 561,391 gifts, worth 282.3 billion VND. The Society at all levels has organized 83 provincial/municipal Charitable Tet Market programs, 308 district, commune and equivalent programs, 46,540 programs and activities with the direct participation of leaders of local Party committees and authorities.

The General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army directed the entire army to organize over 350 military-civilian Tet programs in 2025, such as: "Spring on the border warms the hearts of the villagers", "Spring on the border united, Tet warms the hearts of the military and the people", "Spring united - warms the hearts of the military and the people", "Army celebrates Tet with ethnic minorities in the Central Highlands"... Specific activities include supporting the construction of new houses, house repairs, medical examination, free medicine, giving nearly 130,000 gifts to policy families, poor households, soldiers, civil servants, and military workers in especially difficult circumstances with a total amount of over 300 billion VND.

The Vietnam Farmers' Union and all levels of the Union mobilized 193,738 gifts of cash, food, and necessities for Tet with a total value of 76.7 billion VND to give to disadvantaged families.
