Dak Lak currently has over 68,300 hectares of fruit trees, focusing on a number of trees such as durian, avocado, passion fruit, longan, lychee... accounting for nearly 18% of the total area of perennial crops. However, the area assigned with growing area codes to meet export requirements is still limited.
To date, Dak Lak has only 109 growing areas granted export codes with a total area of over 4,000 hectares. Focusing on crops such as durian, mango, lychee, longan, banana, and chili. Therefore, the province is speeding up the process of supporting people to carry out the process of granting growing area codes, helping to trace the origin of products and meet the plant inspection requirements of importing countries.
According to Mr. Nguyen Hac Hien, Head of the Department of Crop Production and Plant Protection of Dak Lak province, the issuance of growing area codes not only helps improve the quality of agricultural products but also opens up export opportunities and avoids market risks. In the coming time, the Department will continue to coordinate with localities to focus on guiding people to organize production, apply good agricultural practices, and improve product quality to meet the standards of growing area codes from importing units.
“The regulation on granting a planting area code requires a minimum area of 10 hectares. To have 10 hectares, there must be a connection with farmers. Therefore, in the coming time, we will organize production according to the chain and focus on the planting area code and the management team of cooperatives and cooperatives must be the leaders to lead these units to implement it,” Mr. Hien emphasized.
