With her own efforts and the support of women's associations at all levels, Ms. Doan Thi Thu Ha (Kim Hoa commune, Huong Son) has successfully built an economic model with a good income.

Ms. Doan Thi Thu Ha (born in 1983) in Minh Thuy village, Kim Hoa commune (Huong Son) was born into a farming family. In 2001, after graduating from high school, due to family circumstances, Ms. Ha did not continue her studies but stayed home to help her parents with farming. A year later, she married Mr. Doan Quoc Linh (born in 1976), from the same commune. At that time, the young couple had no jobs, and only relied on a few fields for a living, so life was very difficult.

Ms. Ha shared: "After getting married, everything for my husband and I was at the starting line, even the house was simple, just enough to shelter from the rain and sun. Although my husband and I worked hard to find ways to develop the economy, due to lack of capital, knowledge and experience, life was just around the corner, making just enough to eat. Especially when our two children grew up, we worried about how to take care of their education."

Officials of the Women's Union of Huong Son district and Kim Hoa commune visited and encouraged Ms. Doan Thi Thu Ha.

The turning point for Ms. Ha's family came in 2014, when the Women's Union officials came to encourage and support her in building a sustainable economic development model. With the help of women's unions at all levels, Ms. Ha was able to borrow 80 million VND at low interest rates from the Bank for Social Policies and the Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development. At the same time, she was also given the opportunity to participate in livestock and crop training courses organized by all levels and sectors.

With capital and knowledge, Ms. Ha invested in building barns to raise sows and pigs for meat, raise breeding cows and chickens, and at the same time renovate 5,000 m2 of wild garden to grow elephant grass, oranges, and grapefruits. By building up gradually, "taking short-term to support long-term", she raised 3 sows, giving birth to 3 litters each year. She switched to raising pigs for meat to sell to the market. When she made a profit, she continued to reinvest in buying 2 breeding cows, raising 200 chickens per litter (3 litters each year)... revenue and income increased gradually each year.

Ms. Ha's livestock farm model always ensures a clean and safe environment.

Up to now, each year, Ms. Ha supplies the market with about 120 pigs, 2 calves, hundreds of chickens, oranges and grapefruits. The average revenue is about 600 million VND/year, after deducting expenses, the profit is about 250 million VND/year.

Their increasingly prosperous economic conditions have helped the couple raise and educate their two children. Currently, their two children (one girl and one boy) are both studying at universities in Hanoi.

Ms. Ha's flock of hundreds of chickens is about to be sold.

Along with building a sustainable economic model, Ms. Ha also actively participates in movements launched by authorities at all levels and Women's Unions at all levels such as: New rural construction movement, building cultural life in residential areas... In particular, thanks to building a livestock model applying waste treatment with science and technology, ensuring the environment from the beginning, Ms. Ha boldly responded to the movement to build "Clean house, beautiful garden" launched by Women's Unions at all levels. Recently, after surveying the criteria, the Commune Women's Union issued a certificate certifying Ms. Ha's family as meeting the standards of a "Clean house, beautiful garden" household.

Talking about her success today, Ms. Doan Thi Thu Ha shared: "In addition to my own efforts, the support and companionship of women's associations at all levels in the past time has been the foundation and motivation for me to develop a sustainable economic model, rising out of poverty right in my hometown."

Ms. Ha talked with the President of the Women's Union of Kim Hoa commune, Doan Thi Hong Thuan, and the Secretary of the Minh Thuy village Party cell about building clean houses and beautiful gardens.

Not only is she diligent, hard-working, and striving to successfully build an economic model with a good income, Ms. Doan Thi Thu Ha is also a women's union member who always actively participates and well implements all movements set forth by the women's union and the locality.

In addition, she is also an example of building a happy family, raising obedient and studious children, behaving harmoniously with everyone, willing to share experiences and support many other women in the village to develop together, and to be loved and learned from by the villagers.
