After nearly 40 years of Renovation, reality has proven that Vietnam's strong international economic integration has had a profound impact on the process of building an independent and self-reliant economy of the country.
Accordingly, through each stage of development, the Party's policies and guidelines on building an independent and self-reliant economy associated with international integration have had appropriate development steps: From integration to proactive integration; active and proactive integration, to proactive and active deeper and more complete economic integration with the region and the world...
According to official documents, building an independent and self-reliant economy, first of all, independent and self-reliant in terms of socialist-oriented development; promoting industrialization and modernization, creating economic, scientific and technological potential, and strong enough material and technical facilities; having a reasonable, effective and competitive economic structure; having a socialist-oriented market economic institution; maintaining macroeconomic stability; ensuring the economy is strong enough to stand firm and respond to complex situations, effectively implementing international commitments...
In the context of a changing world with many rapid, complex and unpredictable developments, from traditional to non-traditional, from strategic competition, geopolitical conflicts to climate change, economic crisis, proactive international integration associated with independence, autonomy and self-reliance has become the top important factor, an objective and urgent requirement to help Vietnam take advantage of opportunities, overcome challenges to achieve its goals.
Nearly 40 years of Renovation have proven that economic independence and autonomy create the foundation for effective international integration. Effective international integration contributes greatly to the building of an independent and autonomous economy of Vietnam.
On that path, Vietnam's strength is enhanced, its position and prestige in the international arena are enhanced. In the first six months of 2024, the macro economy continues to be stable, GDP recorded a growth rate of 6.42% (much higher than the same period, up 3.84%), inflation is controlled; export turnover continues to increase strongly, bringing the trade surplus to 11.63 billion USD; the amount of foreign direct investment poured into Vietnam reached 15.19 billion USD, up 13.1% over the same period in 2023... Many leading organizations in the world such as WB, IMF, HSBC, EuroCham all commented that Vietnam's economy has bright prospects and continues to grow strongly.
We have full confidence in the 2021-2030 Socio-Economic Development Strategy, continuing to clearly define the viewpoint that building a self-reliant economy must be based on mastering technology and proactively and actively integrating, diversifying markets, and improving the adaptability of the economy. It is necessary to form a new national production capacity that is self-reliant, participates effectively, improves its position in the global value chain, and is able to effectively withstand major and unusual external impacts. Promoting internal strength is a decisive factor associated with external forces and the strength of the times.
