Conference summarizing voluntary blood donation work in 2024

On March 19, 2025, the Provincial Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation held a conference to review the work of voluntary blood donation in 2024; to honor and reward individuals, families and collectives with outstanding achievements in blood donation and voluntary blood donation in 2024. Attending the conference were comrade Nguyen Long Bien - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Head of the Provincial Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation; representatives of the leaders of the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda and Education Commission, provincial departments and branches, Red Cross Associations of districts and cities and outstanding organizations and individuals in voluntary blood donation in the province.

According to the report of the Provincial Red Cross Society - the Standing agency of the Provincial Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation, in 2024, with the attention of all levels and sectors in propaganda and mobilization work, voluntary blood donation achieved positive results, with 9,561 people participating in blood donation in the whole province, collecting 8,045 units of blood, reaching 121% of the set plan; Agencies, departments, branches, organizations, enterprises, schools and localities have done a good job of voluntary blood donation. Many families and individuals have had outstanding achievements in donating blood many times, especially Mr. Nguyen Van Nguyen, an official of Thuan Nam District Medical Center, who is a representative of Ninh Thuan province to attend the honoring of 100 outstanding blood donors nationwide in 2024 held in Hanoi, with 31 voluntary blood donations, mobilizing his wife to donate blood 39 times and his 2 sons to donate blood 12 times, in addition to mobilizing 22 siblings in the family to participate in blood donation.

Speaking at the Conference, Comrade Nguyen Long Bien - Member of the Provincial Party Committee - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee acknowledged and highly appreciated, at the same time welcomed, commended and honored the collectives, individuals and families who have had many achievements in voluntary blood donation to save people in recent years; He also pointed out some shortcomings and limitations: coordination in the work of mobilizing voluntary blood donation, organizing propaganda in localities has not been promoted and maintained regularly; Party committees and authorities of some localities have not really paid due attention, have not had plans to direct the movement of voluntary blood donation, there is still a phenomenon of leaving the work to the Red Cross Society, considering blood donation as the task of the Red Cross Society and the Youth Union; the work of honoring and rewarding outstanding units and individuals in the blood donation movement is still limited in some localities and units.

Looking forward, the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested that sectors, organizations and localities continue to consolidate and improve the quantity, ensure quality, and assign specific tasks to each member of the Steering Committee at each level; continue to mobilize cadres and employees to participate in blood donation according to the 2025 Plan of the Provincial Voluntary Blood Donation Steering Committee (8,500 units of blood). Strengthen propaganda work with diverse and rich forms and contents through mass media, in activities and meetings of agencies to mobilize and call on many people to participate in voluntary blood donation to save lives. News agencies and newspapers promote propaganda work, strongly mobilize and encourage regular voluntary blood donation campaigns. The Department of Health directed the Provincial Hospital to invest in equipment and personnel to improve the capacity of blood collection, storage, management, use of blood and screening of blood products. In which, the focus is on improving the quantity and quality of the team of technicians to serve blood donation campaigns well; promptly supplying blood to patients when they need blood transfusion. The Red Cross - the advisory body for the Provincial Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation continues to actively promote the expansion of blood donation subjects, increase the amount of blood collected, gradually eliminate and move towards eliminating the situation of sudden blood donation, in which the focus is on mobilizing workers in enterprises. Implement well the Regulations on honoring and rewarding of the National Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation, in which the facilities need to pay attention to the management and monitoring of individuals, families who donate blood many times, and groups with achievements in the work of mobilizing Voluntary Blood Donation.

On this occasion, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee awarded certificates of merit to 07 groups and 14 individuals with outstanding achievements in voluntary blood donation and 48 individuals with many blood donations. The Provincial Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation awarded certificates of merit to 04 families and 157 individuals who donated blood 10-19 times; 7 groups and 4 individuals with outstanding achievements in voluntary blood donation; 06 families and 230 individuals who donated blood 5-9 times./.
