On September 20, in Da Nang City, the 20th ASEAN Information Officials Meeting (SOMRI 20) took place. This is one of the programs in the series of events of the 16th ASEAN Ministers Meeting on Information (AMRI 16).

Delegates will report on the results of relevant meetings of the SOMRI working group; update meetings with ASEAN dialogue partners in the information field such as Japan, Korea, China.

In addition, the Conference will discuss and review the draft agenda of the 16th AMRI Conference and AMRI meetings with dialogue partners.

The conference also reviewed and approved documents such as: AMRI – ASEAN Vision Statement 2035 (a transformative, adaptive and resilient information and communications sector); Government Information Management Guidelines for Combating Fake News and Disinformation in the Media; ASEAN Task Force on Fake News Action Plan (TFFN PoA); Extension of the Work Plan on Strengthening ASEAN+3 Cooperation through Information and Communications 2018-2023; Joint Media Statement of the 16th AMRI and related meetings....

Speaking at the Conference, Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Thanh Lam highly appreciated the dedication and commitment of ASEAN information officials in enhancing information and communication cooperation.

The Deputy Minister hopes that during the more than 1-day conference, delegates will have effective discussions to jointly outline a roadmap to help ASEAN develop strongly in the digital age.

As part of the AMRI 16 event series taking place in Da Nang, tomorrow (September 21), the 7th SOMRI+3 Conference (with 3 dialogue countries: China, Japan, and Korea); the 4th SOMRI+Japan Conference (with Japan); ASEAN Workshop: Digital Transformation Journalism Creating Digital Knowledge will take place.
