On the afternoon of October 19, continuing activities within the framework of his working trip to attend the ASEAN - Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Summit and visit the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh visited the GCC headquarters, met with GCC Secretary General Jassim Muhammad Al-Budaiwi and witnessed the signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation between the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the GCC Secretariat.
In an exchange with GCC Secretary General Jassim Muhammad Al-Budaiwi, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh highly appreciated the role of the GCC and affirmed that Vietnam attaches importance to further promoting mutually beneficial cooperation with the GCC and its member countries.
The Prime Minister stressed that Vietnam is ready to act as a bridge to promote ASEAN-GCC cooperation, the two most dynamically developing regions in the world, for peace, stability and development.

The Prime Minister said that the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the GCC Secretariat opens up a new and potential cooperation channel, a milestone in the relationship between Vietnam and the GCC .
The Prime Minister requested the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the GCC Secretariat to soon agree on a specific cooperation program to effectively implement the Memorandum of Understanding that was just signed.
Appreciating the role and position of Vietnam as well as the achievements that Vietnam has made in recent times, the GCC Secretary General expressed his pleasure to welcome the first Prime Minister of Vietnam to visit the GCC headquarters, the historic building that has witnessed every milestone in the Council's 42-year development journey.

The Secretary General affirmed that all six Gulf countries have very good relations with Vietnam and the two sides still have a lot of potential for cooperation. The GCC Secretariat will actively support Vietnam to promote cooperation with member countries in areas where both sides have strengths.
Regarding ASEAN-GCC cooperation, the Secretary-General said that the two sides will certainly write a success story because both regions are stable, dynamic, peace-loving and are striving to promote cooperation for the benefit of their people.
