Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Hoang Nam, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Tri province, said that each person present at the Cycling for Peace event will be a messenger, spreading the desire for peace of the Vietnamese people in general and the people of Quang Tri in particular; building a message towards a peaceful, stable and prosperous world.

"Vietnam is a peace-loving country, thousands of years of history of building and defending the country have proven that. More than anyone else, the Vietnamese people clearly recognize the value of peace. We hope that the festival will honor the value of peace, commemorate and pay tribute to the heroes who sacrificed for independence," said Mr. Nam.

At Truong Son National Martyrs' Cemetery, the delegation offered incense to pay tribute to heroic martyrs and presented gifts to families with revolutionary contributions and students in difficult circumstances.

Finally, at Fidel Park, delegates and athletes signed the festival's symbolic flag with the message "Join hands to build a peaceful world".

The 54m2 flag (representing the 54 ethnic groups of Vietnam) has the main motifs of a dove holding a rice ear, expressing the desire for peace, prosperity and happiness, along with a multi-colored silk ribbon.

In which, red and yellow symbolize the national flag, red is also the color of blood of heroes and martyrs who sacrificed their lives for peace today; green is the color of peace, the color of life reviving and developing...

This flag will be sent to the National Commission for UNESCO, as a message from peace lovers.
