Tay Phuong Pagoda, also known as "Tay Phuong Co Tu" with the Chinese name "Sung Phuc Tu", is located on Cau Lau Mountain in Thach Xa Commune, Thach That District, about 40 km west of Hanoi city center.
From the foot of Cau Lau mountain, visitors can admire the Tay Phuong pagoda complex in turn, including the lower Tam Quan, upper Tam Quan, Son Than Temple, Front Hall, Middle Hall, Upper Hall, Ancestor House, Mother House and Guest House.

The birth of the pagoda is still circulated in the region with many legends, but the material evidence related to the pagoda is from the Mac Phuc Nguyen period (1547 - 1561). This is the time when the pagoda had its current scale. After that, King Le Than Tong, Lord Tay Vuong Trinh Tac, King Le Hy Tong renovated it, but not much.
Of the 64 Buddhist statues hundreds of years old kept at Tay Phuong Pagoda, 34 are recognized as National Treasures.
