Hoi An develops trade and service brands

Ha Linh lantern production facility (Cam Chau ward) is a tourist attraction, guiding visitors to experience making traditional lanterns and exporting them abroad. Over the years, the facility has continuously improved its designs to suit customer tastes.

Mr. Tran Ha - owner of Ha Linh lantern production facility said: "We are very happy that our brand is known nationwide and countries around the world place orders. I hope that lantern facilities will improve the quality of their products so that they will become more and more prestigious, becoming a big brand of the ancient town of Hoi An."

Coming to Ha Linh lantern facility to experience making lanterns, Mr. Tom (New Zealand tourist) shared: “It was a wonderful experience making lanterns. I was really surprised by the skills of the craftsmen when making these products very quickly and delicately”.

In Hoi An, from 2021 to present, the City Economic Department has consulted and supported 15 production facilities in registering regular trademarks.

Since 2006, the Economic Department has been building 12 brands for the city's typical products, including 1 Hoi An Organic certified brand and 11 collective brands.

Of the 11 collective trademarks, 6 have been granted protection certificates: Hoi An lanterns, Thanh Ha pottery, Kim Bong carpentry, Tra Que vegetables, Cam Thanh bamboo and coconut, and Cu Lao Cham forest tea.

Five brands are currently building their profiles, including Cu Lao Cham’s “banh it la gai”, Cam Nam’s “banh dap”, Hoi An’s “quat”, Hoi An’s “may do” and Hoi An’s “cao lau”. In addition, the city has established geographical indications for Cu Lao Cham’s bird’s nest products.

In recent times, the city has focused on propaganda, raising awareness, enhancing enforcement effectiveness and combating intellectual property rights infringement.

At the same time, support individuals and businesses to participate in trade promotion activities in and outside the locality to effectively exploit and use trademarks.

Mr. Nguyen Viet Lam - Son Thuy Ceramic Production Facility (Thanh Ha) shared that the facility has now been granted a trademark, creating convenience when the product is brought for commercial promotion.

Mr. Dinh Hung - Head of Economic Department of Hoi An City said that in the coming time, the unit will continue to advise the City People's Committee to propagate, raise awareness, enhance enforcement effectiveness and combat intellectual property infringement; strengthen activities to support the creation of intellectual property.

The unit also advised the city to coordinate with the Department of Science and Technology to implement the tasks of creating, managing and developing the certification mark "Hoi An for tourism services"; exploiting, managing, developing and building a dossier to expand the geographical indication "Cu Lao Cham Hoi An" for bird's nest products...
