Our return to Nam Lu commune (Muong Khuong district) was shortened. More than a year ago, the road to the commune center was in disarray, looking over the surrounding hillsides, the loud noise of the machines made the atmosphere of road construction more bustling. Today, looking down from above, the villages of the Nung, Mong people... are connected by a "white silk strip" across the hills. A prosperous image is gradually appearing in the poor countryside.
The Party Secretary of the commune - Nung Thi Thu said: In 2023 alone, 4 internal roads leading to the production areas of the people and connecting the villages with a total length of 16.7 km have been formed. The people are very excited.
So, how can the rural appearance be so improved? The head of the local party committee affirmed: It all comes from learning and following Uncle Ho by cadres, party members and people of all ethnic groups in the commune!

Having pondered the pros and cons of donating land to build a road, after being propagandized and mobilized by the commune and village, the people in Nam Lu understood that "patriotism requires competition". Looking at the neighboring areas with spacious roads and developed trade, they were so eager, so the people here highly agreed and competed to build the road. The households of the Nung, Mong, Kinh... donated 9.7 hectares of land and many assets that they had worked hard to cultivate, including about 1,000 tea trees, 1,200 cinnamon trees, 200 tangerine trees and some crops to make way for the road. The routes Ta Then - Pac Tra, Khau Na (Nhan Lu commune) - Nam Do (Lung Khau Nhin commune), Provincial Road 154 Pac Ngam village - Ta Then - Nam Ooc and Sao Co Sin (Nhan Lu commune) - Sin Lung Chai (Lung Khau Nhin commune) thus lead the way across the poor land, hoping to create momentum for other areas of social life in the highlands.

The day we returned, Nam Lu welcomed the first summer rain like a blessing from heaven to make the tea buds greener and the fields lush. Motorbikes lined up to the production area from all directions without fear of the weather. On the newly white road, we found Nam Ooc village, home to more than 50 Nung households. From a poor village on the high mountains, today Nam Ooc has risen to become a bright spot of the locality.
In the Nung language, the name of the village means “where water flows out”, meaning that the village has a large water source, providing water for the Nung people to live and produce. However, due to the poverty of life, no matter how favorable the water source is, the people only depend on single-crop rice and corn fields. The dream of a prosperous tomorrow is always put behind the dream of a solid road.

In 2019, when the locality started to build the village main road, the people joined hands and united to realize their dream. The road, which was more than 2 km long and 3 m wide, was built in an exciting atmosphere. Mr. Vang Van E, Secretary of the village Party Cell, recalled: Households actively contributed working days, even households from far away packed rice or contributed rice to cook to reduce travel time. Realizing the benefits of the road, wherever the road opened, poverty and backwardness were pushed back, so in 2023, that atmosphere once again flared up in the village when people joined hands to open the intra-field road and connect the villages.
The road was formed, the people started to exploit the advantages to develop the economy. Clearly identifying the strengths for agricultural production, from the general policy of the district, commune and village, together with the diligence of the people here, the hills were covered with green, creating more than 100 hectares of rice, 80 hectares of corn, more than 30 hectares of tea. No more days of famine, no longer a remote village on the high mountains, Nam Ooc now seems to "wear" a new coat.
In a purely agricultural countryside like Nam Ooc, each family builds a civilized life, each farmer works enthusiastically, each party member voluntarily sets an example... So the whole village learns from Uncle Ho.
Secretary of the Vang Van E village Party Cell said: To make learning and following Uncle Ho closer and more familiar, the village Party Cell propagates to the people to learn from Uncle Ho from the smallest actions.

Promoting the spirit of "party members taking the lead", many party members in the village are not only pioneers in donating land for road construction but also leading examples in the economic development emulation movement. A typical example is party member Lung Van Kinh. The 2-storey house was built by party member Kinh from hard work and production. In addition to corn fields and cassava hills, Mr. Kinh is one of the first households in the village to participate in tea planting with more than 2 hectares since 2020. In livestock farming, he focuses on taking care of black pigs, selling an average of 2 litters per year. In 2023 alone, his family will earn nearly 300 million VND from livestock and crop farming.
The good news is that in the village party cell, there are many other party members who also strive to contribute to building a prosperous family and a prosperous homeland, such as Lung Van Thuong, Lu Van Thon, Vang Van Chien...
Looking at the whole Party Committee of Nam Lu commune, in recent years, studying and following Uncle Ho has become a regular activity of cadres, party members and people of all ethnic groups in the area. Along with doing a good job of setting an example for cadres and party members, imbued with Uncle Ho's teaching: "Solidarity is an extremely precious tradition of the Party and our people", in recent times, "solidarity" has become the key that the Party Committee of Nam Lu commune has used to open the "doors" that were once closed in the community of each village and hamlet and unlock difficult tasks to mobilize and gather the internal strength of the people. Solidarity to build the homeland, solidarity in helping each other develop the economy...
From the practical actions of learning and following Uncle Ho, each cadre, party member and people of all ethnic groups in Nam Lu commune have been and are continuing to compete and contribute to making the appearance of the highland commune increasingly better and the lives of the people more prosperous. The spirit of learning from Uncle Ho will continue to be promoted by the locality so that Nam Lu can successfully carry out its tasks in the coming time.
