On February 24, 2012, the Central Party Secretariat decided to make May every year “Workers’ Month”, and since 2017, the Prime Minister has decided that May will be “Action Month on Occupational Safety and Hygiene”. Since then, the Action Month on Occupational Safety and Hygiene and the Workers’ Month have been held simultaneously, becoming an opportunity for the entire Party, the entire political system, enterprises, especially the Trade Union to promote activities to improve the effectiveness of occupational safety and hygiene, as well as organize activities to represent, care for, and protect union members and workers.

The launching ceremony of this year's Action Month is one of the practical activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025); the 139th anniversary of International Labor Day (May 1, 1886 - May 1, 2025). The theme of the Action Month on Occupational Safety and Health in 2025 is "Strengthening the assessment, identification of hazards and risks and proactively implementing measures to ensure occupational safety and health at the workplace". The theme of the Workers' Month in 2025 is "Vietnamese workers take the lead in entering a new era".

According to Deputy Director of Hanoi Department of Home Affairs Nguyen Tay Nam, Deputy Head of the Organizing Committee of the Month of Action on Occupational Safety and Hygiene and Workers' Month, through this year's Launching Ceremony, Hanoi is determined to take synchronous action, contributing to raising awareness of Party committees, authorities, people, political organizations, employers and workers in ensuring social security, occupational safety and hygiene, and fire and explosion prevention in the new situation. During the Month of Action, the Capital will launch a peak period of propaganda, dissemination and education of laws on occupational safety and hygiene for employers and workers in many diverse and rich forms, especially for workers without labor contracts (freelance workers), craft villages and workers working in environments with strict requirements on occupational safety and hygiene. In particular, activities on occupational safety and hygiene and prevention of epidemics will be deployed. The city will promptly commend and encourage groups and individuals who do a good job in occupational safety and hygiene, contributing to preventing and minimizing occupational accidents in the city; at the same time, criticize groups and individuals who violate the provisions of the Law on Occupational Safety and Hygiene, leading to serious and fatal occupational accidents...

An important task set by the Organizing Committee is to recommend the effective implementation of the organization of the Dialogue Conference between employers, employees, trade unions, employers' representative organizations and state agencies to promote the improvement of fair and safe working conditions for employees, and to improve the effectiveness of the development and implementation of policies and laws on occupational safety and hygiene. In addition, to strengthen the inspection, examination and strict handling of serious occupational accidents that cause damage to people and property of the state, enterprises and citizens.

Within the framework of the Launching Ceremony, the Organizing Committee will give gifts to workers in difficult circumstances, those who have had work-related accidents, and to children of workers in difficult circumstances.

According to Vice President of the City Labor Federation, Deputy Head of the Standing Committee of the Action Month Nguyen Huy Khanh, with the role of representing and protecting the legitimate rights and interests of union members and workers, the Capital Labor Union regularly responds to the Action Month on Occupational Safety and Hygiene with many practical activities: Promoting propaganda on occupational safety and hygiene; recommending employers to pay attention to investing in upgrading factories, machinery and equipment, improving working conditions and taking timely measures to handle risks that may lead to occupational accidents. In particular, it is necessary to fully implement policies and regimes for employees according to regulations; taking care of and supporting employees who have occupational accidents and diseases at units and enterprises...

In 2024, Workers' Month was organized and implemented synchronously and widely by the Capital's Trade Unions at all levels. Through the activities of Workers' Month, the Trade Union has attracted the attention of the whole society to care for workers, creating trust and solidarity between the trade union and workers.

In 2025, promoting the achieved results, so that the movement can truly go into depth, be effective and practical, the Hanoi City Labor Federation requests that all levels of the Capital's Trade Union deploy activities of the Month of Action on Labor Safety and Hygiene and the 2025 Workers' Month to all union members and workers with high determination, specific activities, practical content, and methods suitable to the situation of the industry, locality and unit.

In particular, it is necessary to focus on taking care of and protecting the legitimate rights and interests of workers and civil servants through coordinating inspection, examination, and supervision of the implementation of labor laws and policies for workers.

At the same time, increase contact and dialogue with union members and workers, thereby promptly grasping and resolving the legitimate recommendations of workers. Thereby, contributing to building the Capital's workforce and the Trade Union organization increasingly strong, building the city increasingly rich, civilized and modern.
