Summer activities towards child protection

On May 31, the Dong Nai Province Summer Steering Committee held the opening ceremony of summer activities, launched the Month of Action for Children and the nationwide swimming practice and drowning prevention activities.

With the theme "Safe volunteer summer - connecting love - healthy and creative", the 2024 summer activities aim to foster and educate traditions, review summer culture, organize recreational activities, cultural and artistic activities, and sports.

The program focuses on organizing activities to educate life skills, self-defense skills, drowning and abuse prevention for children, and organizing summer volunteer activities in the area.

Mr. Nguyen Minh Kien - Secretary of Dong Nai Provincial Youth Union - said that this year's summer activity program will organize 104 provincial-level summer activities and hundreds of summer activities from communes, wards and towns for children in the area.

The new activity this summer is the cyber security team for children, with the main force being union members, youth, and students in Dong Nai. The curriculum will be reviewed by the Department of Education and Training and the Department of Information and Communications before implementation.

Specifically, the summer volunteer force will organize skill training classes, equipping children, especially primary and secondary school students, with the ability to protect themselves and have the skills to exploit and interact safely in the online environment.

"The activity aims to contribute to creating a system of standards and ethical rules in cyberspace. Through that, it helps children and their relatives improve their skills in using digital technology applications, while preventing fraud in cyberspace," Mr. Kien emphasized.

Mr. Nguyen Son Hung - Vice Chairman of Dong Nai Provincial People's Committee - emphasized the summer activities and the Month of Action for Children with the aim of encouraging the entire population to respond to the nationwide movement to care for, educate and protect children.

Along with that, Mr. Hung suggested that districts and cities pay special attention to launching and responding to the movement for the whole population to practice swimming to prevent drowning, avoiding tragic cases occurring during the summer.

On this occasion, the units also coordinated to present 450 scholarships, 2,200 gifts, 1,000 cartons of milk... with a total value of about 2 billion VND to students and children in difficult circumstances who have overcome difficulties to study well in the area.
