Majestic activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Southern Liberation Day

Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission Dinh Thi Mai affirmed that the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025) is the central and largest event in the activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day. This is a particularly important political event of national scale, organized by the Party Central Committee, the National Assembly, the President, the Government, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and Ho Chi Minh City.

The national celebration program will be held at 6:30 a.m. on April 30 on Le Duan Street, District 1 and some central streets of Ho Chi Minh City. The parade program is chaired by the Ministry of National Defense , including 4 parade blocks of the honor guard; 36 parade blocks; 12 parade blocks. There are expected to be parade blocks of Laos and Cambodia in the celebration. The program will be broadcast live on VTV1 (Vietnam Television), Ho Chi Minh City Television and local radio and television stations.

At the press conference, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Thi Thu Hang said that the 50th Anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day has received a lot of attention and positive response from international delegates. To date, more than 20 international delegations, including 3 high-level delegations, 4 delegations at ministerial level and above, more than 15 political parties from different continents... have confirmed their attendance at the event. In addition, Ho Chi Minh City has also received confirmation of attendance from more than 20 sister localities and many foreign individuals who have contributed to the anti-war movement against the war of aggression in Vietnam.

Notably, for the first time, the parade featured a group of overseas Vietnamese, with more than 120 delegates. Not only overseas Vietnamese who contributed to the struggle for national independence, but also many young intellectuals, businessmen, and artists were invited to attend.

At the press conference, Vice Chairwoman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Tran Thi Dieu Thuy informed that from April 19 to 30, Ho Chi Minh City will organize many welcoming activities to serve the people. In particular, the typical festival is "Colors of Uncle Ho's City" with the highlight being the 3D mapping art performance at the front of the city People's Committee headquarters, combining light, sound and symphony and choral music.

The film exhibition “Echoes of the Great Victory of Spring 1975” was held at Nguyen Hue - Ngo Duc Ke stage on the night of April 27-28, with 300 precious documentary photos and community film screenings. The special art program “National Reunification Day” was held and broadcast live nationwide at Thong Nhat Hall, District 1, on the evening of April 30.

Along with that, the city coordinated with central ministries and branches to organize special art programs to welcome, such as the outdoor art program "The Country is Full of Joy" on April 20 at Thong Nhat Hall; a special concert with the theme "Symphony of Peace" on the evening of April 21 at the City Theater; a national television bridge "Forever the Triumphant Song" on April 27 at the Ho Chi Minh City bridge; a special art program chaired by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in coordination with Ho Chi Minh City organized on April 29, in front of Thong Nhat Hall...

The Ministry of Public Security is hosting a brass band performance combined with horseback riding techniques scheduled for April 30, at Le Loi Street and Nguyen Hue Walking Street.

In addition, Ho Chi Minh City also plans to organize a variety of celebratory activities on the evenings of April 19 and 26 and on key days of April 29 and 30, at Nguyen Hue walking street, Bach Dang wharf area - Saigon river...; districts 1, 4, 6, 7, 8, 11, 12, Tan Phu, Binh Tan; Can Gio, Nha Be districts and Thu Duc city.

The special art program “National Reunification Day” was organized and broadcast live nationwide to recreate the national epic through symphonic music, choirs and a national record-setting performance of 10,500 drones, combined with spectacular fireworks…

Speaking at the opening of the Press Conference, Permanent Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Mr. Le Hai Binh, said that this is an opportunity for every Vietnamese person to recall the historical moment exactly 50 years ago, a sacred moment that has entered the history of the nation as one of the most brilliant pages.

"These days, throughout the S-shaped strip of land, especially in Ho Chi Minh City, we all deeply feel the exciting, bustling atmosphere, full of joy, pride and gratitude of all Vietnamese people. It is not only the emotion of millions of hearts in the country, but also the sharing and joy of international friends for the great event of the country," the Deputy Minister affirmed.

Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Nguyen Van Duoc emphasized the importance of this celebration, requiring that preparations be thorough and thoughtful, ensuring the event will be a great success, worthy of the history of the Southern Liberation Day. He also requested that units coordinate closely to organize the ceremony in a solemn and meaningful manner, leaving a deep impression in the hearts of people across the country.
