Quang Hai may miss the friendly match with Man United

On the evening of April 18, at Hang Day Stadium (Hanoi), Hanoi Police Club was held to a 0-0 draw by Ho Chi Minh City Club, within the framework of round 19 of LPBank V-League 2024 - 2025.

In this match, Hanoi Police Club was missing a series of key players in the attack such as Nguyen Dinh Bac, Vu Van Thanh and two foreign players Alan, Leo Artur - both of whom are among the top scorers in V-League with 9 and 8 goals respectively.

Captain midfielder Nguyen Quang Hai also sat on the bench and only entered the field from the 67th minute.

In this match, the team also received the latest injury case, midfielder Le Van Do suffered a torn eye and showed signs of concussion after a strong collision with an opponent. Van Do was immediately taken to the hospital for a thorough examination.

At the post-match press conference, head coach of Hanoi Police Club Alexandre Polking spoke about the team's "injury storm" situation.

He said: "We were unlucky in this match when we did not have many strikers to solve the game well. The whole team will rest and recover well to prepare for the next matches. Le Van Do is being carefully examined for a facial laceration and a concussion in the head.

Believe me, I don't want Quang Hai to play this match. I want him to have a complete rest, save him for the next match. But I trust my players.

On the bench, Quang Hai told me he could play the last 25 minutes of the match. And I also believed he would make a difference for the team. However, the team had many injuries such as Dinh Bac, Van Thanh, Alan, Leo Artur and most recently Le Van Do, so he could not play as expected.

The coaching staff must recalculate the force plan for the upcoming important stage.

I will review Quang Hai's injury situation. If things do not improve, perhaps the Hanoi Police Club will have to intervene in Quang Hai's selection for the Southeast Asian All-Stars team to play a friendly match against Man United."

Previously, on April 16, the Southeast Asian Football Federation (AFF) selected Quang Hai, Duy Manh, and Hoang Duc to the Southeast Asian All-Star Team, preparing for a friendly match with Manchester United (England) on May 28 at Bukit Jalil Stadium, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

This is the V-League's break after round 24 (ending on May 25).

Then, when the V-League returned, Hanoi Police Club had a more intense match schedule than other teams, with a make-up match for round 20 from June 3. The match made up for Hanoi Police Club's match schedule in the semi-finals of the 2024 - 2025 Southeast Asian Club Championship.
