Effectiveness of industrial promotion work
For many years, realizing the importance of developing industry in rural areas in the cause of industrialization and modernization of the country, the Department of Industry and Trade of Ben Tre province has actively supported enterprises to invest in applying machinery and equipment to production from industrial promotion funds, especially from the national industrial promotion program through the implementation of national industrial promotion projects through each stage.
Mr. Nguyen Van Be Sau - Director of Ben Tre Department of Industry and Trade - said that with the attention of the local Department of Industry and Trade (Ministry of Industry and Trade), Ben Tre province has accessed the central government's industrial promotion fund of about 2 billion VND per year on average to carry out activities to support production and business of enterprises in the area, the support content is focused on the application of advanced machinery and equipment in production.

Along with that, every year, the People's Committee of Ben Tre province has also paid attention to arranging about 4 billion VND to support and promote enterprises and rural production establishments to invest in machinery and equipment, train workers, build brands, promote products, find markets for products...
“Thereby, industrial promotion activities have been effective and timely helping businesses improve technology, increase productivity and product quality, diversify products, actively build and promote brands, remove difficulties, contribute to the development of rural industry, create jobs and increase income for workers in rural areas,” said the Director of the Department of Industry and Trade of Ben Tre.
In addition, industrial promotion projects have been implemented in accordance with the correct procedures and monitored to ensure progress, ensuring the set goals, attracting a large amount of counterpart capital from enterprises and rural industrial establishments to invest in advanced machinery and equipment, contributing to improving the competitiveness of small and medium enterprises in Ben Tre province.
Notably, based on the practical needs for resources to develop the production of coconut products in the province, the Center for Industrial Promotion and Trade Promotion has developed and implemented two national industrial promotion projects "Supporting rural industrial establishments in Ben Tre province to develop the production of coconut products in the period of 2019 - 2020" and continuing in the "period of 2023 - 2025" to focus on promoting activities to support local coconut processing production establishments such as: Improving management capacity for enterprises; applying machinery, equipment, technology transfer, replicating highly efficient production models; developing products through product promotion activities at domestic fairs...
Promote support for coconut product processing facilities
Also according to Mr. Nguyen Van Be Sau, in 2023, Ben Tre was approved by the Ministry of Industry and Trade for the national pilot industrial promotion project "Supporting rural industrial establishments in Ben Tre province to develop the production of coconut products in the period 2023-2025". In which, the total support budget in 2023 is 1,883 billion VND, the counterpart fund of the enterprise is 1,910 billion VND. Including activities of Supporting the application of advanced machinery and equipment for 6 rural industrial establishments (support budget of 1,800 million VND). Organizing 1 workshop to improve productivity and quality in production (organization budget of 83 million VND).
“In 2024 and 2025, Ben Tre will continue to implement the national industrial promotion project to support rural industrial establishments in Ben Tre province to develop the production of coconut products in the 2023-2025 period, which has been approved by the Ministry of Industry and Trade,” informed Mr. Nguyen Van Be Sau.
In order for the national industrial promotion project to be implemented, in Ben Tre province, it has been effective in recent times, helping businesses and establishments expand their scale, apply advanced technology in quality management, introduce products, and develop markets.
Along with that, it helps establishments and enterprises promote and introduce products to domestic and foreign consumers; increase competitiveness for similar products on the market, increase product output, expand product consumption markets. At the same time, it contributes to improving the efficiency of using natural resources, raw materials, fuels, and materials; minimizing emissions and limiting the increase in environmental pollution; protecting and improving environmental quality and human health; improving export capacity; increasing economic value for products, increasing profits for enterprises, contributing to the process of increasing local budget revenue.
“Specifically, in 2023, the Department of Industry and Trade of Ben Tre supported 6 rural industrial establishments in the province to apply advanced machinery and equipment in production with a total support fund from the national industrial promotion fund of 1.8 billion VND. This is an activity under the national pilot project to support rural industrial establishments in Ben Tre province to develop the production of coconut products in the period of 2023 - 2025”, said Mr. Nguyen Van Be Sau.

Among the supported units, Dinh Cao Coconut Company Limited (Binh Dai district) is one of the typical enterprises in producing coconut fiber.
According to Mr. Phan Hieu Trung, Director of Dinh Cao Coconut Company Limited, with the desire to expand production scale, improve product quality, and meet the increasingly high and strict demands of the current market. In 2023, the company will invest in an additional coconut fiber stripping system thanks to funding support from the national industrial promotion program, with a capacity of up to 8,600 coconut shells/hour, helping to increase production output to 90 tons of coconut fiber/month.
“The support not only helps increase production output, but also helps the company create consistent, clean products, reducing broken threads and jams like the old machines, which helps save time and input materials. In addition, the system also helps save energy consumption, thereby reducing production costs, improving product quality and price, and promptly meeting the remaining orders at the company ,” Mr. Trung shared.
Similarly, for Son Phu Coconut Investment Company Limited, a young enterprise of Giong Trom district, thanks to funding support from the national industrial promotion program in 2023, the company has boldly invested in new machinery to serve the production process effectively.
Since then, the company has started to receive many orders from customers and partners. Output has increased significantly by 30-40% compared to before. Thanks to that, the company can produce stably, with enough output to supply the market, and at the same time sign more contracts with partners in China and Korea.
