Hanoi Police Club visited PSM Makassar in the first leg of the Shopee Cup semi-finals (April 2) in a very comfortable mood. However, coach Polking's team lost 1-0 to the home team PSM Makassar and had to win the second leg to get a ticket to the final.
Throughout the first half, Hanoi Police controlled the ball most of the time. Quang Hai and his teammates created many dangerous opportunities towards the opponent's goal. However, the players were still unlucky to convert the opportunities into goals. The first 45 minutes passed without any goals being scored.
In the second half, Phan Van Duc, Pham Minh Phuc and Thaileon were brought on to increase the strength of the attack. However, the players were still unlucky in the final shot to score the opening goal.
On the other side of the front line, PSM Makassar took advantage of the opportunity and scored a goal in the 80th minute. This was also the only goal of the match. With this result, Hanoi Police will face many difficulties in the second leg of the semi-final which will take place on April 30 at home.
Coach Polking shared after the match: "The only positive thing for us at the moment is that we still have a chance in the second leg at home at Hang Day Stadium, where there are enthusiastic fans of the Hanoi Police Club. Regarding the match, we played better in the first half.
Even though Alan missed the penalty, we still created clear scoring chances. Unfortunately, we couldn't convert them into goals. That's football. When you attack a lot but don't take your chances, you get punished.
PSM Makassar played well in the second half and scored 1 goal. However, looking at the overall picture, Hanoi Police is still the dominant team in almost all parameters. It is still too early for me to destroy what I have built. In the second leg, we must score many goals.
We have to forget this match and start again for the second leg. With home advantage, I believe my players will be able to turn the game around. A goal is not too far away."
