Hau Loc has very diverse natural conditions, rich in potential with 3 ecological - economic regions: hilly areas, plains mainly alluvial and coastal areas. In particular, the coastal length of 12.4 km is favorable for the development of exploitation, aquaculture and fishing logistics. With 411.02 ha of coastal protection forest area, Hau Loc has been covered; of which: Da Loc commune 315.93 ha; Minh Loc commune 16.66 ha; Hai Loc commune 78.43 ha. The lush green mangrove forests, a rich ecosystem nurturing dozens of aquatic species of high economic value such as shrimp, crab, clam, mussel, oyster, fish, seaweed ... are increasingly diverse and abundant.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Hai, in Da Loc commune, Hau Loc district, Thanh Hoa province said: Every day she wakes up early in the morning to go to the mangrove forest to catch aquatic products such as crabs, shrimp, fish, clams... The average income is from 200 to 300 thousand VND per day, enough to cover the family's living expenses.

Hau Loc district always pays attention to and focuses on the management and protection of marine ecosystems. Every year, the district People's Committee issues a plan to protect coastal aquatic resources and an environmental protection plan; aquatic resources management is maintained, environmentally unfriendly fishing activities are limited; violations are strictly handled; focusing on protecting and developing mangrove forests has created coastal landscape space, creating conditions for the development of ecotourism.
Mr. Vu Van Trung, Vice Chairman of Da Loc Commune People's Committee, said: The mangrove forests along the coast in Da Loc have been planted to protect people living in the dike, contributing to significantly reducing the negative impacts of climate change. The Commune People's Committee regularly propagates to people about protecting and caring for coastal forests, launching a movement to clean up waste to protect the environment. Taking advantage of mangrove forests, people have developed the economy with models such as: Beekeeping and natural aquaculture under the forest canopy, protecting irrigation works to bring high economic benefits.

Head of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Hau Loc district, Ngo Viet Thang, said: Currently, in Hau Loc district, there are 411.02 hectares of mangrove forests planted in the communes of Da Loc, Minh Loc, Hai Loc... to protect the ecological environment, help protect the coast, prevent erosion, and respond to climate change. Mangrove forests also bring economic value to people to develop all year round such as developing models of beekeeping, clam farming and catching aquatic species.
