Vietnam's 'new phenomenon' takes to the field

The third qualifying round of the Seoul Billiards World Cup 2024 will be contested today (November 6), with the participation of 48 players, including 4 representatives of Vietnam's 3-cushion carom: Nguyen Hoan Tat, Thon Viet Hoang Minh, Nguyen Tran Thanh Tu and Dao Van Ly. Of which, Hoan Tat and Hoang Minh have tickets thanks to passing the second qualifying round. Thanh Tu and Van Ly are the 2 players who were scheduled to compete from the third qualifying round from the beginning.

Thanh Tu left a strong impression at the Veghel 2024 World Cup

Among the names mentioned above, Nguyen Tran Thanh Tu is probably the player with the greatest expectations. After his excellent performance at the Veghel Billiards World Cup 2024 (in the Netherlands) at the end of September, especially with glorious victories over Torbjorn Blomdahl (Sweden) or Dick Jaspers (world No. 1, Netherlands), Thanh Tu is considered a "new phenomenon" in the international arena.

In the third qualifying round, Thanh Tu is in Group H with Jose Juan Garcia (Colombia) and Alessio Dagata (Italy). The 1994-born player will compete in the Seoul Billiards World Cup 2024 at 12:00 today (November 6, Vietnam time), meeting the loser of the previous match between Garcia and Dagata.

Thanh Tu will play the decisive match for a ticket to the 4th qualifying round at 3:00 p.m. Group H is considered difficult, as the player from Colombia - Jose Juan Garcia is very formidable.

Dao Van Ly will start from the 3rd qualifying round of the World Cup Seoul 2024

Thon Viet Hoang Minh (group N) and Dao Van Ly (group O) will both take the field at 10:30 . Hoang Minh will meet Kim Hyung-kon (Korea), while Van Ly will face Ataberk Cerkez (Turkey). In the remaining match of the group taking place in the afternoon of the same day (November 6), Hoang Minh will face Claus Maurer (Austria), while Van Ly will face De Kok (Netherlands).

Nguyen Hoan Tat is in Group F with two Korean home players, Jang Sung-won and Kim Hyeon-woo. Hoan Tat will play his first match in the third qualifying round of the Seoul 2024 Billiards World Cup at 12 o'clock , against the loser of the match between Jang Sung-won and Kim Hyeon-woo.
