Tran Quyet Chien fights strong opponents
After 5 days of competition in the qualifying round, the final round (round 32) of the 3-cushion carom billiards World Cup Bogota (Colombia) 2025 will officially begin tonight, February 28. Round 32 has 5 Vietnamese players participating, including: Tran Quyet Chien, Bao Phuong Vinh, Tran Thanh Luc, Chiem Hong Thai (specially qualified because he is in the top 14 of the world rankings) and Tran Duc Minh (passed the final qualifying round).
Tran Quyet Chien was determined from the beginning to be in Group D with his junior Bao Phuong Vinh. The two remaining players in Group D are Jeremy Bury (France) and Nikos Polychro (Greece). These are very strong players with an annoying playing style, no longer unfamiliar to Vietnamese 3-cushion carom billiards fans.
Vietnam's number 1 player Tran Quyet Chien will compete at 10pm tonight, February 28 (Vietnam time), against compatriot Bao Phuong Vinh.
Tran Quyet Chien is in a difficult group.
Tran Duc Minh is in Group A with Dick Jaspers (Netherlands), Cha Myeong-jong (South Korea) and Erick Tellez (Costa Rica). Duc Minh will play his first match against world number 1 Dick Jaspers at 10 p.m. (Vietnam time).
Young player Chiem Hong Thai is in Group C with Eddy Merck (Belgium), Pedro Gonzalez (Colombia) and De Bruijn (Netherlands). Hong Thai will play Pedro Gonzalez, also at 10pm (Vietnam time).
Tran Thanh Luc is in group F with Marco Zanetti (Italy), Berkay Karakurt (Türkiye) and Kang Ja-in (South Korea). Thanh Luc will play his opening match against Berkay Karakurt at 0:00 on March 1 (Vietnam time).

Round 32 is played in a round-robin format, with points and rankings, and tie-breaking (with a draw). The top two players in each group will advance to the knockout round (round of 16).
