On December 11, the People's Committee of Hau Giang province held the opening ceremony of the Vietnam Rice Road Exhibition with the theme "The Thousand-Year Journey of Vietnamese Rice". This is one of the programs in the series of events of the Vietnam - Hau Giang International Rice Festival 2023, taking place from December 11-15.

Mr. Dong Van Thanh, Chairman of Hau Giang Provincial People's Committee and Mr. Truong Canh Tuyen, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee (2nd and 3rd from right), received the certificate of establishing the Vietnamese record.

On this occasion, Hau Giang received 2 record certificates from the Vietnam Record Organization for 2 categories: Vietnam map model made from specialty rice varieties of many provinces and cities in Vietnam and exhibition space, installation of the longest rice road in Vietnam.

Accordingly, the rice road is designed with many miniatures, 1.3 km long and 30 m wide. The layout recalls the way of rice cultivation from the early to modern times. It is the image of an ancient field without scientific achievements with haystacks, alluvial soil, buffaloes, rice carts, and handmade agricultural tools. Part of the road shows the development of rice cultivation in an increasingly modern direction, with the support of many types of machinery and advanced technology.

The Vietnamese rice road has many vivid miniatures recreating the culture of rice production through many periods.

The unique highlight of this road is the use of more than 20,000 rice pots for perspective, spanning many stages: from blooming rice seedlings to ripening and waiting for harvest. The space of farmers' lives in the past and present is vividly recreated with thatched houses, corrugated iron houses with earthen walls, tiled houses, and then gradually changed with wooden houses and high-rise buildings. The Western rice culture is both familiar and beautiful with sampans, sampans, and rice barges.

The exhibition will run until January 3, 2024 for people and tourists to visit and take photos.

Meanwhile, the Vietnam map model is impressive as it is made from typical rice varieties and specialties of 63 provinces and cities in the country. Hau Giang hopes that this will be a unique way to promote the Vietnamese rice brand to the world; at the same time, honoring the precious rice varieties that have created the thousand-year-old rice civilization, especially in the context that Vietnamese rice is continuously honored as the best in the world.

The street has many old-style houses.

Mr. Ngo Minh Long, Director of Hau Giang Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, said that both works are displayed on Tran Hung Dao Street, next to Xa No Canal (section belonging to Ward 5, Vi Thanh City). The Vietnam Rice Road Exhibition will take place until January 3, 2024 so that people and tourists from near and far can visit and take photos.
