The exhibition "Hangeul Experiment Project - Modern Hangeul Research Institute" held at the National Library of Vietnam is co-organized by the Korean Cultural Center in Vietnam and the National Hangeul Museum of Korea from July 15, 2024 to August 9, 2024, within the framework of the "Overseas Cultural Center Visit Program Cooperation Project" implemented by the International Cultural Project Board under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Korea.

This is the 4th exhibition held but the first time in Vietnam with the theme 'Hangeul - Korean writing' with the aim of helping the public have a more intuitive view of the value of Hangeul - Korean writing through cooperation with artists who are actively working in many different fields to highlight the value of Hangeul as an artistic and industrial content, thereby introducing the value of Hangeul culture globally.

Along with a video introducing the principles and philosophy of creating Hangeul, a total of 11 works including videos, fashion products, handicrafts, homewares, and graphics were produced with the theme of the change of Korean in modern times such as the work "Hangeul" which symbolically represents Hangeul as a window to the new world in modern times and "Jitae Chilgi - Lacquer on Traditional Paper, Hangeul Series", which captures the characteristics of Korean fonts published in modern times on lacquerware....

Korean artist performs painting to show Vietnam-Korea relationship

After the Exhibition in Vietnam ends, the event will continue to take place at the Korean Cultural Center in the Philippines starting in September.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Choi Young-Sam, Korean Ambassador to Vietnam shared: "Hopefully this Exhibition will be a good opportunity to introduce the beauty and science of Hangeul to the Vietnamese people.

Within the framework of the event, the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signing ceremony between the National Library of Vietnam and the National Hangeul Museum took place. Accordingly, the main contents of the agreement are (1) promoting cooperation programs and mutual exchange of documents and academic publications, (2) coordinating the organization of events, conferences, seminars, and exhibitions to promote the cultures of the two sides (especially written culture and documentary heritage, ...), (3) exchanging expertise and developing professional skills (especially in the field of preservation), (4) exchanging experts to promote cooperation activities and develop professional capacity of the two sides and promote cooperation projects.

Delegates congratulated the signing ceremony of cooperation between the National Library of Vietnam and the National Hangeul Museum.

Sharing about the cooperation project with Korea, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Dung, Director of the National Library of Vietnam said: "We highly appreciate this cooperation of the Korean Cultural Center in Vietnam, the National Hangeul Museum and believe that the upcoming cooperation activities of the parties based on the memorandum of understanding will continue to bring practical effects to spread the cultural values ​​of Vietnam and Korea".

"We expect that through the cooperation agreement with the National Library of Vietnam, this will be an opportunity for the two institutions to gain a deeper understanding of each other's cultures through active exchange and cooperation," said Kim II-hwan, director of the National Hangeul Museum.

In addition, the National Library of Vietnam also held the event "Experience the art of writing calligraphy" in Vietnam organized by the National Hangeul Museum. The calligraphy experience activities (expected to take place 6 times) in July with the theme "The Beauty of Hangeul Calligraphy" are for Vietnamese people who want to experience Korean writing at the Korean Cultural Center in Vietnam and the National Library of Vietnam. "The Beauty of Hangeul Calligraphy" applies sophisticated modern calligraphy techniques in the process of converting Hangeul so that participants can create their own Hangeul works, thereby feeling the beauty of Hangeul like a vivid picture.

Starting with the operation of the calligraphy experience program in Vietnam this time, the National Hangeul Museum plans to expand "Hangeul Experience Everywhere" overseas, thereby popularizing Hangeul worldwide in the future.

The Korean Cultural Center in Vietnam, which co-hosted the event, was established in 2006 and is the first Korean Cultural Center in Southeast Asia. Currently, the Center plays an important role in promoting Korean culture in Vietnam by planning and organizing various Korean cultural events, including large-scale Korean cultural festivals.
