On the afternoon of December 18, the People's Committee of Hai Phong City held a groundbreaking ceremony for the project to invest in the construction of Nguyen Trai Bridge and urban beautification of the surrounding area with a total investment of more than 6,235 billion VND.
The Nguyen Trai Bridge construction investment project and urban beautification of the surrounding area is a key project of Hai Phong City in 2024, belonging to Group A, a special-level traffic project with a total investment of more than 6,235 billion VND.

According to the design, the Nguyen Trai bridge construction project has a scale of 4 lanes for motor vehicles, designed as a cable-stayed bridge, the bridge section is nearly 1,500m long, the middle span alone is 300m wide, the widest compared to other bridges in Hai Phong.
Nguyen Trai Bridge is designed with two 111m high towers forming two sails reaching out to sea, expressing the aspiration of Hai Phong City to "reach out to the ocean".
The intersection connecting to Le Thanh Tong Street has modern architecture; expanding Nguyen Trai Street from 18.0m to 50.5m, connecting to Le Hong Phong Street and Cat Bi International Airport.
Nguyen Trai Bridge, once completed, will be the city's 6th bridge across the Cam River, after Binh Bridge, Kien Bridge, Hoang Van Thu Bridge, Bach Dang Bridge and May Chai Bridge.
Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, Chairman of Hai Phong City People's Committee Nguyen Van Tung said that in recent years, Hai Phong City has focused heavily on investing in expanding urban space to the North of Cam River.
In 2017, the city started the project to invest in building technical infrastructure for the new urban area of Bac Song Cam with a scale of more than 324 hectares, including the construction of Hoang Van Thu bridge across the Cam River.
Next, Hai Phong invested in building the City's Political - Administrative Center and the City's Conference - Performance Center in the above area.
By May 2025, the Hai Phong City Party Committee, People's Council, and People's Committee, along with other city agencies, will move to the Bac Song Cam Political - Administrative Center to work.

More specifically, on October 24, 2024, the National Assembly Standing Committee passed Resolution No. 1232 on the establishment of Thuy Nguyen City under Hai Phong City, so people in surrounding localities tend to move here to live.
To ensure more convenient and clear travel across the Cam River, Hai Phong City has decided to invest in building Nguyen Trai Bridge, the 6th bridge across the Cam River and the 4th bridge leading to the new urban area North of the Cam River.
"In order for the project to be implemented on schedule and effectively, contractors must focus human and material resources to build the project, ensure technical and aesthetic quality, especially ensure absolute labor safety, and reduce construction time compared to the signed contract. Strive to complete the project in 2027," emphasized the Chairman of Hai Phong City People's Committee.

Also at the groundbreaking ceremony, the Chairman of Hai Phong City People's Committee requested that the city's departments, branches and sectors and Ngo Quyen District create the best conditions and immediately resolve any difficulties and problems arising during the construction process, especially ensuring security and order during the construction process.
On this occasion, the Chairman of the City People's Committee also requested the Ministry of Transport and the Vietnam Railway Authority to soon submit to the Prime Minister the dismantling and relocation of railways in the Hoang Dieu port area to speed up construction and urban beautification.
