Hai Duong checks and vaccinates against African swine fever, pigs for meat

Representatives of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development inspected a livestock household in Cam Hoang commune (Cam Giang) after vaccination against African swine fever.

In order to prevent and control African swine fever in a timely and effective manner, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Hai Duong province requested the People's Committees at the district level to urgently develop a plan to implement Directive No. 21/CT/TTg of the Prime Minister, review, specifically compile statistics and synthesize the need for vaccination for pigs and organize mass vaccination for pigs immediately after purchasing vaccines. Prioritize vaccination for pigs in high-risk areas, household farms, and small-scale farms. At the same time, propagate and mobilize organizations and individuals with medium and large-scale livestock farming to proactively vaccinate against African swine fever.

Coordinate with the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to closely monitor and supervise the pig herd, take samples to test the protective antibody content after vaccination. Commune-level People's Committees establish vaccination teams to promptly handle post-vaccination incidents in localities.

The provincial Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine has increased information and widely disseminated information in many forms about the dangerous nature of African swine fever, the risk of disease recurrence and spread. It is recommended that farmers practice biosecurity and disease safety in livestock farming, apply disease prevention measures and use African swine fever vaccines for pigs according to the instructions of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development...

Since the beginning of July, the provincial Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine has coordinated with the Agricultural Service Centers of Gia Loc, Cam Giang, Thanh Ha, Kim Thanh districts and Kinh Mon town to inject 750 doses of African swine fever vaccine. The results showed that all post-vaccination test samples were immune. The entire herd of pigs developed normally after vaccination.
