On the morning of March 28, the People's Committee of Hai Duong province held a meeting to celebrate the 90th anniversary of the Militia and Self-Defense Force Tradition Day (March 28, 1935 - March 28, 2025).
Comrades: Major General Ha Tat Dat, Deputy Commander of Military Region 3; Nguyen Minh Hung, Provincial Party Committee member, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee attended.
Speaking at the meeting, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Minh Hung acknowledged and commended the achievements of the Hai Duong militia and self-defense force in recent times.
He suggested that in the coming time, Party committees at all levels, authorities, departments, branches, and localities need to thoroughly grasp the Party's military and defense viewpoints and guidelines, resolutions and directives of the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense on militia and self-defense work; promote the advisory role of military agencies at all levels in the work of building militia and self-defense forces.
Continuously consolidate and build a strong and widespread militia and self-defense force, ensuring that the militia and self-defense force is truly a trustworthy political force of the Party Committee, government and people in building defense zones.
Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Minh Hung requested the province's militia force to continue to innovate and improve the quality of training and exercises according to the motto "basic, practical, quality". Promote the "Determined to Win" emulation movement in conjunction with local patriotic emulation movements...
At the meeting, the leader of the Provincial Military Command read a commemorative speech, reviewing the glorious 90-year history of the militia and self-defense force, expressing gratitude and honoring generations of militia and self-defense officers and soldiers who have devoted and sacrificed for the revolutionary cause of the Party, the nation and their homeland Hai Duong.
Exactly 90 years ago, on March 28, 1935, at the First National Party Congress in Macau (China), our Party issued the “Resolution on the Self-Defense Force”. This was the first resolution of the Party on the organization, direction, training and operation of the self-defense force. Since then, March 28 every year has been the Traditional Day of the Self-Defense Militia.
In Hai Duong, from the first self-defense team established in September 1940 in Hop Tien commune (Nam Sach), the militia and self-defense force quickly developed, fought with local troops, forcing the enemy to withdraw from many outposts and disperse their forces.
The provincial militia and self-defense force currently accounts for about 1.35% of the province's population. The proportion of party members in the militia and self-defense force accounts for 21.6%. All 207 communes, wards and towns in the province have established military party cells.
On this occasion, Military Region 3 awarded certificates of merit to 1 collective and 1 individual; the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee awarded certificates of merit to 5 collectives and 20 individuals; the Provincial Military Command awarded certificates of merit to 6 collectives and 8 individuals with outstanding achievements in militia and self-defense work.
