ThaiBinh Seed Group promotes the application of science and technology in research and development of plant varieties.

Attending the meeting were comrades: Dang Thanh Giang, member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; Pham Van Nghiem, member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; leaders of a number of relevant departments and branches.

ThaiBinh Seed Group is one of the leading enterprises in the Vietnamese seed industry. In recent years, the unit has successfully researched many new rice varieties with many outstanding characteristics, which have been recognized and put into mass production in many provinces and cities. To date, the Group has 33 plant varieties granted protection certificates, 28 varieties of rice, peanuts, corn, vegetables, and soybeans recognized as national varieties; applying many new technologies such as molecular biotechnology, genome editing to select and create plant varieties with outstanding features.

Over the years, ThaiBinh Seed Group has always identified science and technology (S&T) as the foundation and driving force for enterprise development. Implementing Resolution No. 57/NQ-TW of the Politburo and Action Program No. 41-CTr/TU of the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee, the Group has set the goal of turning the Group's Crop Research Institute into a strong national research facility, capable of competing internationally in the field of plant varieties. To achieve this goal, the unit focuses on investing in developing S&T infrastructure, upgrading and modernizing laboratories and facilities for experimental research; building, planning, and designing scientific fields, applying new technologies in water irrigation; building experimental areas for salinity, drought, and heat tolerance to ensure technical requirements; building net houses, membrane houses, and greenhouses to serve research and development of high-tech agriculture; enhancing the application of advanced technologies in research and evaluation of plant varieties and products. In particular, ThaiBinh Seed Group will deploy a plant database system; digitize and integrate AI and Big Data applications in research and production management and product commercialization; strengthen cooperation with domestic and international research institutes and organizations; and train and develop a team of high-quality researchers and experts.

At the meeting, delegates focused on discussing and analyzing issues related to mechanisms and policies to promote science and technology development and innovation; goals and implementation solutions of Thaibinh Seed Group in implementing Resolution No. 57/NQ-TW of the Politburo.

Concluding the working session, the Provincial Party Secretary and Head of the Provincial Steering Committee highly appreciated the role and importance of science and technology, affirming that this is a breakthrough solution for the country's development in the new era. Resolution No. 57/NQ-TW of the Politburo is like a breath of fresh air, creating a major change in the thinking and actions of all levels, sectors, units and localities. Therefore, the Provincial Party Standing Committee has concretized Resolution No. 57/NQ-TW with Action Program No. 41-CTr/TU; identifying ThaiBinh Seed Group as the core technology center in the agricultural sector of the province. The Provincial Party Secretary emphasized: Although the agricultural sector only accounts for about 20% of the economic structure, for Thai Binh province, agriculture is still one of the three important economic pillars of the province, ensuring sustainable and stable development. The development and upgrading of the Crop Research Institute under ThaiBinh Seed Group is very necessary in the current context. He also highly appreciated the results that ThaiBinh Seed Group in general and the Plant Research Institute in particular have achieved in recent years; and at the same time acknowledged the unit's innovation, creativity and leadership in research and development of plant varieties.

He suggested that in the coming time, ThaiBinh Seed Group should determine to build the Plant Research Institute into a branded and prestigious unit not only domestically but also regionally and internationally. To achieve this goal, the unit needs to focus on implementing strategies, focusing on researching and developing high-quality, high-economic-value plant varieties. The Group needs to promote the application of science and technology, artificial intelligence, biotechnology and have a specific strategy for training high-quality human resources; invest in upgrading facilities to ensure they are commensurate with the development roadmap; expand international links and cooperation in research and production; and enhance digitalization in business management.

The Provincial Party Secretary, Head of the Provincial Steering Committee for Science, Technology, Innovation, Creativity and Digital Transformation affirmed that the province will have outstanding mechanisms and policies to support and accompany the unit in developing the Plant Research Institute. He requested that a number of relevant departments and branches closely coordinate and actively support the unit in developing new varieties for the market; at the same time, assign the Provincial Party Committee to urgently advise and direct the research and development of preferential mechanisms and policies on land, human resource development, administrative procedures, funding, etc. to promote and encourage the development of science and technology, innovation, and digital transformation for general application throughout the province.

On this occasion, the Provincial Party Secretary, Head of the Provincial Steering Committee and provincial leaders visited the research and testing area for crop varieties and the science and technology research area of ​​the Plant Research Institute, Thaibinh Seed Group, in Dong Xa commune, Dong Hung district.
