AppleCare+ is a service, a warranty package that helps extend the warranty period of genuine Apple devices purchased with many other benefits. AppleCare+ is an upgraded version of AppleCare with many special benefits and does not need to be approved by Apple.
Previously, Apple allowed warranty extensions within 30 days after the end of the initial AppleCare+ plan, and now the extension period is 45 days; with options to extend the plan for 24 months, 36 months, monthly, or annually until canceled.
The 45-day extension is now available to customers in Australia, Austria, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, UK and US.
Prepaid AppleCare+ plans for iPhone, iPad, or Apple Watch are eligible for monthly or annual warranty extensions, while Macs can be enrolled in a new warranty plan that is renewed annually.
Customers who want to extend AppleCare+ can visit Apple's support website to see if their device is eligible. Apple does not guarantee that coverage will be extended and does not warn customers when coverage is about to expire unless required by law.
Users can check their service plan's expiration date in Settings on their iPhone or iPad, in the System Preferences app on their Mac, or on Apple's website.
