The club has seen many ups and downs in its history, playing in the lower levels of English football before first joining the Third Division in 1923.
Bournemouth are nicknamed “The Cherries” and their home ground is the Vitality Stadium, which holds over 11,000 spectators. The club has enjoyed a successful run in recent years, reaching the Premier League and maintaining their place in the competition for several seasons.
One of AFC Bournemouth's most famous strikers is Jermain Defoe, who played for the club at various stages of his career.
