Dong Lane Well in Yen Xa, Hung Dong Ward, Vinh City, hundreds of years old, has just been restored.
For the people of Nghe An, for generations, the village well has been the main source of water serving the daily life of the villagers, providing cool water for the daily use of each local person from cooking, bathing, washing. The village well is also the place where many young men and women meet, date and get married. In addition, the village well is also the place where the dragon veins of each village converge, these sources have nurtured many generations of people...
In Hung Dong ward, Vinh city, Nghe An, for many generations, the people here still preserve 3 village wells, the existence of these "treasures of the village" has contributed to preserving a bit of the soul of the countryside in the modern city. Those are Dong well in Yen Xa village, Trung Thuan village well and Yen Hoa village well.
Mr. Nguyen Van Cau, resident of Hung Dong commune, Vinh city, shared: "In the past, there was no tap water in the whole village, hundreds of households went to Dong well in Yen Xa village every day to get water for use. On summer afternoons, children in the village gathered at the village well to draw water for bathing and playing. On bright moonlit nights, young men and women made appointments to go fetch water. Many couples in the village became husband and wife thanks to meeting, getting to know each other, and dating at Yen Xa village well."
Originating from the common use of a water source, village wells have long been a connecting thread, uniting people together, creating a close-knit village community. The wells have thus penetrated deeply into the spiritual life of the village, becoming an indispensable part of each village. Currently, in many localities in Nghe An, village wells are being cared for by the people and the government to preserve and promote the historical values of village wells.

That is Vung well in Trung Phuc Cuong commune (Nam Dan district) is one of the "first" large, beautiful village wells, hundreds of years old, that has just been restored.
Trung Hau village well in Dien Hoa commune, Dien Chau district was built by Doctor Thai Doan Nguyen in the mid-18th century when he came here to open a village and it is still preserved. Or Trot Quan well, Ngoc Dinh village, Kim Lien commune; Van Phuc village well, Thinh Son commune, Do Luong district; Da Van village well, Xuan Son commune, Do Luong district; Bong well - Tuong Lai village, Phu Thanh commune, Yen Thanh district...
"Banyan tree, well, communal house yard" are familiar images of ancient Vietnamese villages.
