The organizers hope that through specific and practical activities, the program will effectively contribute to raising fishermen’s awareness of law compliance when fishing at sea. Thereby, together with the Government, ministries, agencies, units and localities, urgently remove the yellow card for Vietnamese seafood according to the Action Plan issued by the Prime Minister.

The program "Lighting up the sea with fishermen" was officially launched in early 2023, organized by Ho Chi Minh City Law Newspaper. The program will reach 28 coastal provinces and cities across the country, with a total implementation cost of more than 30 billion VND.

The gifts are to encourage and support fishermen to go offshore and protect the country's sovereignty over the sea and islands.

To date, the program has directly visited and given more than 3,700 gifts to fishermen (worth about 15 billion VND); examined and given free medicine to thousands of fishermen; awarded nearly 600 scholarships (worth more than 1 billion VND) and many other valuable gifts to fishermen's children who have overcome difficulties to study well.
