(Dan Tri) - Teacher Nong Thi Thu Dieu in Cao Bang burst into tears after going through the winding road and witnessing the hardships that students in the highlands had to go through.

Recently, netizens shared a clip recording a scene of a beautiful girl bursting into tears in the middle of the road, the surrounding area is deserted hills, the road is rough, traveling by motorbike is difficult.

The clip received attention from the online community when many people learned that the girl in the clip was a teacher who came to teach at a school in the highlands. Most comments expressed understanding of the difficulties and hardships that teachers and students in the highlands face.

Sharing with Dan Tri reporter, Nong Thi Thu Dieu (born 2001, in Cao Bang) confirmed that she was the girl who burst into tears in the video.

Currently, Thu Dieu is a kindergarten teacher at Ta Xay school (Xuan Truong commune, Bao Lac district). The video was filmed on February 10 and unexpectedly received attention from netizens.

Thu Dieu graduated from the Preschool Education Department (Hanoi National University of Education) in 2024. Her hometown is about 140km away from her teaching place, so the female teacher has to rent a room in the center of Xuan Truong commune. Every day, the girl travels 10km by motorbike on a winding, bumpy road to go to the village to "sow letters" for preschool students.

"On the morning of February 10, I went to Bao Lac town to receive the recruitment decision. That afternoon, I went to Ta Xay school with a friend," Thu Dieu confided.

Dieu asked a male friend to take her. The road was difficult, and she could only travel by motorbike. After passing through the small, winding road with many steep slopes and hairpin turns, Dieu could not help but feel her heart skip a beat.

"On both sides of the road were steep cliffs, steep slopes and deep abysses. Just a little carelessness could endanger my life. Sitting in the back of the car, I didn't dare look down," the girl recalled.

The clip was filmed when Diu left home and tried driving a short distance. Driving was more difficult than she thought.

"I was mentally prepared when I was assigned to teach at a school in a remote area, but I didn't expect things to be even more difficult than I thought. Looking at the road to school, I felt sorry for the children here who have to struggle every day on their journey to find letters.

People here still lack clean water, having to carry buckets of water from the tank to use, which is very difficult... Thinking about everything around me, I burst into tears because I felt sorry for the students and people here, and I felt a bit worried at that time," said the young teacher.

Ta Xay school includes preschool and primary levels. Thu Dieu and another teacher directly manage teaching and boarding meals for preschool students.

100% of the households in the village are Mong. Life here is difficult, lacking water for daily use. Seeing the efforts of the teachers, the parents often ask and care, that is the motivation for Thu Dieu to feel secure to stick with it.

Currently, Thu Dieu teaches a mixed class of 3-5 year olds. After 2 weeks of teaching, the Gen Z girl gradually got used to the environment here. On weekends, the female teacher spends time practicing riding a motorbike to overcome slopes and hairpin bends to help her handle the wheel more firmly.

"The challenge for teachers in mountainous areas like me is probably not the bumpy road but how to get students to attend school regularly. I believe that I must impart knowledge so that later on they can continue to develop their homeland," the female teacher shared.

Since she was a child, Thu Dieu dreamed of becoming a teacher standing on the podium. The girl from Cao Bang is one of the 5 excellent graduates of the Early Childhood Education Department of Hanoi National University of Education in 2024. Instead of choosing the opportunity to study for a master's degree and become a lecturer, the girl chose to return to her hometown to "sow letters" in the remote mountainous area.

"When I decided to return to my hometown, many people discouraged me. With the enthusiasm of youth, I was determined to pursue my dream of becoming a teacher right on the land where I was born and raised," Thu Dieu confided.

In addition to sharing the video to preserve memories, the girl hopes her story will motivate other teachers to continue to be steadfast and try hard for their students.

"Reading comments from the online community, I know that some teachers have to travel 3-4 hours from the main school to the village. I feel that I am luckier than many others. No matter how difficult the conditions are, I must try my best, all for my beloved students," Thu Dieu confided.
