Hue University Director Le Anh Phuong was arrested.

The police have issued an arrest warrant for Mr. Le Anh Phuong, Director of Hue University, to investigate violations during his time as Principal of the University of Education.

On the morning of January 18, speaking with VietNamNet reporter, Mr. Ho Thanh Hai, Director of Hue City People's Procuracy confirmed that the unit had just approved the decision to prosecute the case and approved the temporary detention order for Mr. Le Anh Phuong, Director of Hue University.

According to the Chief Prosecutor of Hue City People's Procuracy, Mr. Phuong was arrested to investigate and clarify his behavior of abusing his position and power while performing official duties during his tenure as Principal of the University of Education (Hue University).

Before being temporarily detained, Mr. Le Anh Phuong sent a request to member universities and units under Hue University to notify them of his sick leave; and authorized Mr. Bui Van Loi - Vice President of Hue University, to manage and handle the work of Hue University during this time.

Mr. Le Anh Phuong (born in 1974, from Quang Binh) graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics from Hue University of Education, then studied for a Master's and PhD at Hanoi University of Science and Technology.

From December 2016 to May 2022, Mr. Le Anh Phuong held the position of Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Principal of Hue University of Education. In 2017, Mr. Phuong was appointed to the position of Associate Professor.

In July 2022, Mr. Le Anh Phuong was appointed by the Ministry of Education and Training to hold the position of Director of Hue University for the 2021-2026 term.
