In recent days, Doan Dinh Phuc - a 12A10 student at Phan Huy Chu High School (Quoc Oai District, Hanoi ) has become known to many people through a clip of him picking up scrap metal every night with his mother and an article written about him by VietNamNet: "A male student picking up scrap metal with his mother every night dreams of entering Hanoi University of Science and Technology". Phuc currently lives with his mother in Dinh To residential group (Quoc Oai Town, Quoc Oai District, Hanoi).

Sharing with VietNamNet , Phuc happily said: “Since the day my information was shared, many people have come to help. Materially, spiritually... all of it makes me and my mother feel very warm and happy. I understand that I am not alone.”

For a long time, Phuc always thought that only mother and son depended on each other. However, the affection of everyone in recent times made him realize that this life still has many beautiful things, the world out there still has many good people who are always ready to help if we do not stop trying.

“Perhaps the gift that makes me happiest is the laptop given by a benefactor. With a daily income of a few tens of thousands of dong for my mother and I, it is already difficult to maintain our lives, let alone think about buying a laptop for studying,” Phuc shared.

For a long time, Phuc has dreamed of having a computer to search for more study materials. Now that wish has come true.

"I would like to thank everyone who has helped my mother and I over the past few days. I would also like to stop accepting any sponsorship because for my mother and I, we are very lucky. I would like everyone to pay attention, support, and help other people in more difficult circumstances," Phuc said.

Talking about his future plans, Phuc said he will continue to strive to become a new student at Hanoi University of Science and Technology. “After receiving everyone’s support, my mother and I will no longer have to collect bottles every night. I will encourage my mother to go for a heart check-up and treatment,” Phuc said.

Mrs. Ta Thi Chau - Phuc's mother also shared her joy and appreciation when many people knew and helped her. "I feel less worried about Phuc's future and really thank all the donors and neighbors who shared the difficulties with the family", she said.

Mr. Nguyen Huu Thiet - Party cell secretary and head of Dinh To residential group (Quoc Oai town, Hanoi) said that Phuc has quite special circumstances, his father passed away early, his mother is 57 years old and has had heart disease for many years. The income to cover the life of Phuc and his mother is from the bundles of bamboo that his mother splits every day, sells to flower tying companies to earn a few tens of thousands of dong.

Before that, every night, Phuc's mother went to collect scrap metal to sell to earn more money to take care of her son who was preparing to enter university. Collecting scrap metal with his mother was Phuc's regular evening job after finishing his homework.

Phuc’s situation is so pitiful that recently many people have come to share and help the mother and son. “I hope that from now on, Phuc will try harder to study and soon reach his dream so as not to let everyone down,” said Mr. Thiet.
