Former champion makes impressive comeback in national playground

In the first match of Group A, the 3rd Vietnam Youth Student Football Tournament - 2025 THACO Cup (TNSV THACO Cup 2025), Hue University faced Quy Nhon University. It can be said that after a season of absence, the former champion Hue University has made a strong comeback in the national student playground. Assistant coach Duong Van Dung shared: “After the unsuccessful 2024 season, it was a regret and disappointment for the coaching staff and the Hue University team. Now, we have a new beginning, in the journey to regain Hue University's position in the Vietnamese student football community."

Winning 3 points in the first match, Hue University team rose to the top of Group A. In the second match of Group A, the representative of the ancient capital will face the host team Ton Duc Thang University, at 5:45 p.m. on March 4. This will be a pivotal match for the race for a ticket to the quarterfinals of the TNSV THACO Cup 2025.

Hue University team is considered to have a good chance to continue, after winning against Quy Nhon University team in the first match.

The final round of the THACO Cup 2025 football tournament took place at Ton Duc Thang University, gathering 12 competing teams, including: Thanh Hoa University of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Hanoi University of Physical Education and Sports (northern region), Da Nang University of Physical Education and Sports, Hue University (Central Coast region), Quy Nhon University (South Central and Central Highlands region), Dong Nai University of Technology (Southeast region), Tra Vinh University (Southwest region), Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology - Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology, Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry, Van Hien University (Ho Chi Minh City region) and Ton Duc Thang University (host).

The 12 teams are divided into 3 groups, playing in a round-robin format to calculate points and rank. The first and second-placed teams in each group, along with the 2 best third-placed teams, will advance to the quarter-finals. From the quarter-finals onwards, matches with a draw after 80 minutes of official play will go into a penalty shootout to determine the winner.
