Last week, world oil prices fell for two consecutive weeks after a sharp increase the previous week. According to Reuters, oil prices fell sharply when the forecast of a supply surplus in 2025 continued to be made, despite the decision of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries and its allies (OPEC +) to postpone the plan to increase supply until April 2025 and extend the production cut period until the end of 2026.
Oil prices are also being weighed down by signs of weak demand in China and rising geopolitical risks in the Middle East, Reuters reported.
Also weighing on oil prices was the US oil rig count, which rose by five to 482, the highest since mid-October, while the gas rig count rose to 102, the highest since early November.
Despite the continuous decline in global oil prices, the oil market still faces many unpredictable fluctuations. Factors such as weak demand, rising production in the US, and OPEC+'s plan to cut production will continue to strongly affect prices.
In Vietnam, gasoline prices are adjusted in line with global developments, creating conditions for stabilizing fuel costs for production and consumption. However, the constant fluctuations in international oil prices require domestic businesses and consumers to be proactive in managing costs and forecasting risks.
Domestic retail gasoline prices on December 9, 2024 will be applied according to the adjustment session from 3:00 p.m. on December 5 by the Ministry of Finance - Ministry of Industry and Trade.
