From early morning on January 10, Giap Thin year (February 19, 2024), Mr. Vu Dinh Nang, Hoa Tien village, Gia Hung commune, and villagers prepared costumes, incense, flowers and offerings to participate in the traditional festival of Hoa Lu cave (also known as Lau valley, Ong valley).
Mr. Vu Dinh Nang excitedly said: I am very proud that Gia Hung has preserved its traditional festival. The festival is an extension and spread of the culture of the land and people, the tradition of "remembering the source of water" of the Vietnamese people; moreover, this is the spiritual support of Gia Hung's children in the journey of building a rich, modern and civilized homeland. With that awareness, each child of Gia Hung always preserves the beauty of culture, builds a civilized lifestyle in organizing festivals to promote and attract tourists to visit and worship the National Historical and Cultural Relic of Hoa Lu Cave - where the annual festival is held.
Every year, Gia Hung commune organizes a traditional festival at Dinh Trai, Hoa Lu cave and Thung La temple from January 10-13 to show the respect of local people and visitors to King Dinh and those who have contributed to the country.
With the moral of "remembering the source of water", the festival is solemnly organized by the locality and community with many traditional rituals such as sacrificial ceremonies, palanquin processions, and folk cultural and artistic activities such as: flag-raising exercises, lion dances, cheo singing, chess competitions, and cultural exchange programs... creating a joyful and exciting atmosphere for the large number of people and visitors attending the festival.
In the past, Dinh Tien Hoang used Hoa Lu cave as a place to train soldiers and recruit soldiers. After defeating and subduing 12 warlords, Dinh Tien Hoang proclaimed himself Van Thang Vuong and established Dai Co Viet - the first centralized feudal state of our country.
Hoa Lu Cave was recognized as a National Historical and Cultural Relic in 1996. Located in the middle of Hoa Lu Cave is the temple of King Dinh Tien Hoang and the Dinh Dynasty's civil and military council. Behind the Dinh King Temple is the temple of Zen Master Nguyen Minh Khong - a person who made great contributions to the country's construction.
Comrade Dinh Khac Thuy, Chairman of Gia Hung Commune People's Committee, said: Hoa Lu Cave Traditional Festival is an opportunity for people and tourists from all over to respectfully offer incense, remember their roots, remember the merits of building and defending the country, creating villages and communes; and is an opportunity to organize cultural and artistic exchanges in the area.
The organization of the Hoa Lu traditional festival aims to promote and preserve the precious traditional culture that has existed for a long time; create conditions for people to contribute ideas, contribute labor, mobilize financial and material resources so that traditional festivals become increasingly rich and have conditions to repair, embellish and build historical relics that are increasingly spacious and beautiful. The traditional festival has become a typical cultural festival, is increasingly solemnly organized, and is an impressive destination for tourists.
In recent years, the Party, State and people have paid attention to preserving, embellishing, investing in construction and restoration of Hoa Lu historical and cultural relic site with a budget of over 60 billion VND. At the same time, implementing a civilized lifestyle in the festival, the Party Committee and People's Committee of the commune have issued resolutions and specific plans to propagate to all cadres, party members and people to implement civilized and polite codes of conduct in the festival, raising awareness and responsibility for preserving and protecting the values of relics and festivals, ensuring security, order, social safety, ensuring environmental sanitation, etc.
Gia Vien District has 19 festivals a year, including 1 district-level festival and 18 village and commune-level festivals. The organization of festivals plays an important role in meeting the legitimate needs of the people for cultural and religious activities, contributing to making the spiritual life of the people more diverse and joyful; strengthening community solidarity; educating cultural traditions and patriotism; creating a cultural environment to preserve and promote the values of national cultural heritage. The district is actively propagating to the people as well as the relic management boards to practice a civilized lifestyle, be serious in the process of implementing festival management, and guiding tourists to visit and worship in accordance with regulations.

With traditional festivals such as Hoa Lu Cave Festival, Cat Dun Temple Festival; Duc Thanh Nguyen Temple Festival, the conditions have been carefully prepared to ensure a joyful, healthy and safe organization; programs to learn about the cultural history, life and career of King Dinh Tien Hoang, the "Ring the Golden Bell" program at King Dinh Temple; organizing a marathon from the place where King Dinh Tien Hoang was born to the place where King Dinh Tien Hoang started his career...
With the orientation of promoting and preserving historical and cultural values associated with tourist attractions, in 2024, Gia Vien district will focus on 3 key tour routes: Finding the origin following the footsteps of King Dinh Tien Hoang; finding the origin of Duc Thanh Nguyen with the highlight of Nguyen Minh Khong herbal garden and organizing Van Long Xanh to attract visitors in the summer of 2024.
Implementing a civilized lifestyle in festival activities at historical sites and tourist areas will help Gia Vien create a beautiful impression on visitors, promoting the rapid and sustainable development of the tourism industry.
