Currently, the vegetable growing area of Me Linh district reaches 3,800 hectares, concentrated in the communes of Trang Viet, Tien Phong, Tien Thang, Dai Thinh, Van Khe, ... with an average yield of about 25 quintals/hectare, and an output of about 98,000 tons/year.
Of which, 155 hectares are produced according to safety standards (applying the PGS community inspection model) and 34.8 hectares are produced according to VietGap standards.
According to Dan Viet reporters on the morning of March 8, farmers in Tien Phong commune, Me Linh district were busy fertilizing and harvesting vegetables and tubers.
It is known that in Tien Phong commune, vegetables are grown all year round and have a short harvest time. Specifically, for sweet cabbage, it only takes 30 - 35 days to harvest, while kohlrabi takes about 75 days, cabbage takes about 90 days,...
Water is piped directly into the garden for convenient watering of vegetables.
According to people in Tien Phong commune, Me Linh district, the current wholesale price of mustard greens at the field is around 6,000 - 7,000 VND/kg.
Notably, due to the impact of the weather, the price of kohlrabi has increased dramatically. Mr. Thang (Tien Phong commune, Me Linh district) happily shared: "Due to the prolonged cold weather, the price of kohlrabi sold in the garden has increased by 5,000-6,000 VND/root, an increase of about 40% compared to the month before Tet."
According to research, currently, Yen Nhan Agricultural Cooperative, Tien Phong commune is producing about 105 hectares of vegetables, of which 90 hectares are producing safe vegetables, with a variety of types such as: tomatoes, kohlrabi, cabbage, cauliflower, leafy greens, etc. Currently, Yen Nhan Cooperative supplies the market with about 60-70 tons of vegetables, tubers, and fruits of all kinds every day.
After harvest, vegetables will be gathered by people and transported to the market for consumption.
According to Mr. Thang, although severe cold has slowed down the growth of some winter crops, the yield and quality of vegetables have increased. If the cold weather continues, vegetable prices will tend to increase further.
Agricultural products of Me Linh district are not only consumed stably in Hanoi but also consumed in many other localities, such as: Hai Duong, Hai Phong, Bac Ninh, Hung Yen, Thanh Hoa, Nghe An...
